thanks for your help, I notice my 8gb RAM is running up to 91% used whilst playing the CFX, dont know if that is bad? I have allocated 4gb RAM for CFX

I don't know if you considered my question about network interface but your issue does sound like a classic polling one. I saw optimising suggestions too here.
Please consider that you have a budget motherboard that has to support on board video, usb I/o and everything. Are you running 10?
Your RME and piano lbraries are your good things but your comp looks to be not optimized.

Oh thanks, no, what are the steps I need to take in windows 10 in order to do what you say please? Thank you very much.

I guess I can also allocate less ram, currently its at 4gb I allocate, although when I want to lower the amount the garritan CFX won't lei me allocate less as it sticks at 4gb and won't budge.

FWIW I've gotten Garritan CFX Full running smoothly on 1.5GB of RAM with a modern CPU/SSD/RAM config. If your disk system is fast enough, you don't need a huge amount of RAM to cache the sounds. For me, the key is to ensure that there's nothing running in the background that will compete for system resources (e.g., Chrome).

What is the point in allocating larger amounts of RAM to the CFX? Does it improve audio quality? I could just use the lowest amount of Ram possible, what difference would it make?

First off, RAM is ultra fast, so for data stored in RAM, Garritan CFX does not need to go throught the process of accessing the much slower SSD; this could help improve latency & reduce pops & clicks. But only if the whole process of accessing the SSD is a bottleneck on your system. Several people do just fine with low RAM allocations and 8GB of total RAM.

These options allow users to optimize the software to their systems.

I would not think about adding RAM to improve audio quality here.

CFX as well as most modern piano vsts pre-load a small amount of each sample into memory, and then stream the rest off of the disk drive when you press a key. CFX by default loads 64 kb of each sample - this is the reason for the fairly long loading times. As long as you have enough ram to accommodate this and the program, more won't make a difference. However, memory leaks are another issue altogether.

You can tweak the pre-load amount and allocated ram for CFX in the settings, but as long as they match up it won't make a difference. CFX unfortunately loads pre-loads all the soft pedal samples as well, whether you use them or not. I had to tweak the script on mine to prevent this and get faster loading times. CFX should work fine with as little as 2 gb of ram free, not including what the OS and services take up. Having a fast SSD is better for streaming, but most fast hard drives are good enough. Next up make sure you turn off any real time anti-virus monitoring as this will sometimes try to intercept what is coming off the drive to do a scan on.

As far as audio buffering options, sometimes lower is better because at higher latency settings, the cpu will have a tendency to park cores or not even out the workload. Go as low as possible with latency settings until you see issues and then up one level. I turned off all core parking in my cpu as an additional measure.

You can also try turning off hyperthreading and disabling all sleep states in the bios to see if this helps. Also, try unplugging from the network and any usb devices not being used directly for the piano vst. Lastly, I dumped my usb hub and made sure I have everything plugged into my main ports on the backplane.

This is what LatencyDPC is showing me, does this seem too high? and indicates an issue, I ran latency Mon but that is all ok and nothing is too high, its all in the green.
