My Blüthner is on an A frame. The 12 casters were never very good. They are some sort of rubber. So I have replaced them all with the same size nylon ones. The difference is amazing and the job couldn't have been simpler.

Did you replace the casters on the A-frame dolly, or the casters on the piano itself?

On the A frame. The Blüthner itself has no casters. It sits direct on the A frame.

I had to replace a wheel on a Colson piano truck when one of them lost a tire a couple of years ago. I removed the caster, and brought it to the dealer in San Francisco, and he replaced the wheel for me. The hardest part was jacking up the piano to remove the caster. That, and traveling to San Francisco!

Fortunately the piano is in the ballroom. The ballroom has huge oak beams. So I can just rig the block and tackle and lift the piano.

In my case, I just jacked up the dolly a couple of inches. My pinblock jack worked for that.
