I was terribly busy the last few weeks with work, whatever time I have left, I spent all of them on polishing my piece for the Spanish/Latin themed recital. Finally I managed to record it without major mistakes and made the submission deadline. Since I will be busy until the end of October, I think it is better that I post it here too.

Bravo to everyone who has made their 40 pieces goal! I realized I too have managed to learn more than 40 pieces, but I still have 4 pieces each in Burgmuller Op. 100 and Streabbog Op. 64, I hope I will have enough time to finish my goal before year end.

From Streabbog Op. 63 (Completed):
1 - 12) No. 1 - No. 12 [Playlist in Soundcloud]

From Burgmuller Op. 100:
13 - 33) No. 1 - No. 21 [Playlist]

From Streabbog Op. 64:
34 - 41) No. 1 - No. 8 [Playlist]

42) Bach/Petzold - Minuet in G Major, BWV Anh. 114 [Soundcloud]
43) Bach/Petzold - Minuet in G Minor, BWV Anh. 115 [Soundcloud]

45) Clementi - Sonatina Op. 36 No. 1, 1st Movement [Soundcloud]
46) Clementi - Sonatina Op. 36 No. 1, 2nd Movement [Soundcloud]
47) Clementi - Sonatina Op. 36 No. 1, 3rd Movement [Souncloud]

I had that problem too, then I noticed that my software had a Normalize button (can choose up to 100%).

A few more. Will do some recordings soon. The Christmas book is old, but the pieces in it are nice. My mother used this book as a kid when learning piano. Seems like an appropriate time of the year to try a few. They aren't too difficult.

42. Dreamcatcher - Gaudet - RCM Celebration Series Piano Repertoire Level 4
43. A Tiresome Tale (Op. 98, No. 6) - Gretchaninoff - Masterwork Classics Lvl 3
44. Danny Boy Traditional? - Alfreds Vol 2
45. What Child is This, Who Laid To Rest (Greensleeves) - Traditional - Christmas at the Piano, arr. by E. Steiner (1959)
46. Prelude in C Major (BWV 846) J.S. Bach - Alfreds Vol 3

I've been away for a while, busy with work and falling in love :-)
Just recorded my 12th ... haha, so far off 40! But at least it's a new piece, and it's slightly difficult.

(1) Chopin - Prelude in E Minor Op 28 No 4
(2) Zipoli - Prelude No I - Largo - good enough
(3) Kuhlau - Sonatina in C Major Op 20 No 1 (1st Movement)
(4) Nikolas Sideris - Never Give Up (2016)
(5) Mozart - Sonata in C K309 - third movement
(6) Yann Tiersen - Comptine d'un autre ete
(7) Shostakovich - Waltz No 2 (Second Waltz)
(8) Delibes - Valse Lente from Coppelia - not good enough for the recital but I'm claiming it anyway :-)
(9) CHopin -Waltz in A Minor (posthumous)
(10) Zequhina Abreu - Tico Tico No Fuba - working on it
(11) Rachmaninoff - Italian Polka (duet for EPP17) - working on it
(12) Mendelssohn - Songs without Words Op 30 No 6

Slow but sure slow this year, but the band's been fun -

1. Happy Days Are Here Again
2. Kansas City (rework)
3. Star of the County Down
4. Westphalia Waltz
5. Cruising Down the River
6. Beer Barrel Polka
7. By the Light of the Silvery Moon (rework)
8. I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover (rework)
9. Boys of Tandragee
10. Out on the Ocean
11. - 40. Canyon Moonrise

Well, maybe Canyon Moonrise should only be 11 - 20 laugh

CM is a waltz that one of the fiddler's in the band brought to us, and it's a lovely waltz, at least on youtube smirk But it has lots of major 7 chords, and 13ths, and stuff, which the fiddler loved, but aren't in my fingers on sight for sure, nor are their inversions, and I'm not used to picking and choosing those voicings on the fly like a jazz musician would be, and I was frantic if not nearly in tears trying to figure out what to do with it at all, much less make it a waltz.

Two fiddlers kept sending me ideas (both of whom are quite knowledgeable and play some piano) but I reminded them that there were no pianos in the youtube renditions laugh But eventually I cobbled something together using broken chords and waggles, and some big rolled chords going in to the break, and one of the fiddlers came over to play along to see if they worked, and we decided to go for it.

But I hadn't played it with the whole band (except for some train wreck practices when I still was totally lost) until the night we played it at a dance. Boy were they surprised laugh It was, of course, nothing like what the original requester had in mind, but fortunately she's a good egg, and the band and the dancers seemed to like it.

But man, it was a stretch laugh

Here is a SoundCloud link for the Greensleeves piece. I think I'll try to learn a few more before the holidays.
