Did you ever contact Yamaha about the issue, as was suggested?

I would seriously do that.

Im not a technician, but this doesn't sound right to me. Aren't yamaha piano's often recommend especially for their tuning stability?

My 1985 U3 is stable. In my search for a piano i played a 1982 YUX from a private seller that wasn't tuned in more than 2 years, and it didn't even really sound out of tune.

You bought a high quality yamaha upright, i would think it should be quite stable by now?

U3piano,

I would like to suggest a summer reading project for you. The book is entitled: "Grand Obsession, a Piano Odyssey" written by Perri Knize. Well worth the $20 or $30 purchase price.

If you do so you will learn what is REALLY involved in buying a new piano out of the box.

Your piano is still an "infant" subject to all the vicissitudes of childhood. It takes time and money to "grow up" to maturity.

Happy reading

My piano is still an infant subject to all the vicissitudes of childhood at 34 years old? shocked

I read other comments by people on this forum saying a (yamaha) piano of this age is getting "old in the tooth" and such.

Im confused, but im sure you are right. Thanks for the book recommendation.

Sent you a PM. If you are in my service area, I'd be willing to come over and take a look...

Sorry,

My comments were directed to the OP, but I got confused as to who the OP was.

Op is dealing with a lack of tuning stability in an 8 months old piano. Any brand new piano has stability issues for a little while.

Doesn’t he say 2 years, or am I missing something?

I did not see the op’s updates so I stand corrected. However, 2 years is not a set milestone that pianos settle. I would give another year or so. Depending on the environment it has been exposed, the prep works that may or may not have been performed, how the piano has been played, how tolerant the owner is of the out-of-tune-ness, etc. also affects the duration.
