Hey folks,

I appreciate all the help from folks on this forum and I found my piano last week. It was delivered today, so I thought it would be fun to share some photos, especially since this is the somewhat rare Yamaha WX1F model (very much like the U series with a different cabinet reinforcement).

Here is what I put down in my living room to allow for easy transit and no damage to the floors or carpets:

Here is the piano rolling down the sidewalk. It was raining a bit, so this was a quick maneuver to get it to the house. This is the only photo I have right now that shows the X-back. It is now up against the wall and so photo opps of the X-back are not that great:

Right after it was placed in its new home in the corner, far away from the hot water baseboard heaters!

I know there's an ongoing controversy about putting "things" on the piano, but these were on our old piano and I think it looks pretty nice (no, those candles will NEVER be lit). Also, I can easily open the hinged top as needed with a little bit of object shifting.

Slightly different angle. I really like the U5-style music rack, which opens and closes with a slight tug on the bottom to make it angle forward.

It looks great in our home and sounds wonderful! This is first time I've had a true instrument in the house after living with an old beater upright for the past 10+ years.

Regards,
Eric

Congratulations on your gorgeous new piano, Eric! And I think your new room rearrangement worked out very well; the piano fits against that wall like it was designed for it! Happy playing!

Always so much fun seeing a piano delivery. Thanks for sharing and enjoy years of playing!

The setting is very nice. I hope you try it with the half top open. I found it beneficial while testing different pianos.

Eric,
Congratulations on such a rare find. I own one as well, WX1F is really a wonderful paino that originally made in Japan. Although this model was produce more than 10 years ago but I can assure that the X post and the materials used in this piano would definitely cost more than produce the vertical post in the new U1. WX1F is a piano never give me any problem before. Once the piano has settled down get your piano technician to bring down the piano action and tighten all the screws in order to secure the jack firmly and do some regulations and spacing of hammers head and leveling the keys and some adjustment for the pedal. You will enjoy playing the piano. Although with the humidity of 95% in my country the piano never give any sluggish and sticky keys problem. I hope this piano will bring you hours and hours of playing pleasure.

Best regards
felix

Congratulations Eric! It looks beautiful! Do you catch yourself wandering back into the room just to stare at it in disbelief?
Shannon

P.S. The nic-nacs look terrific too. I saw the controversy thread as well, but I really like having my little piano lamp, metronome, and Sabine tuner up there (I just have a table runner up there so the finish doesn't get scratched.)

All the very best with your new piano. It looks "right at home"! Post some music when you get a chance. We'd love to hear it!

Thanks for the positive comments! I've been playing the new piano a lot tonight and it is filling a space I'd almost forgotten about, having not been in proximity to a fine acoustic instrument since I lived with my parents as a teenager many moons ago.

I would love to post some music, but I'm challenged with recording and uploading MP3s. I don't believe I have the technology to do it, unless someone can point me to an easy way.

Regards,
Eric

Congratulations Eric. That is one fine instrument. I played one similar to yours about 10 years ago, and I really liked the instrument. The little nook where you placed looks like a nice, out of the way, spot to play and practice.

WX model is known to be the best of Yamaha verticals. Too bad they dont produce it anymore. Congratulations.

Best music stand on an upright, bar none. I also really like the big lip on the bottom, so you can really yank that page over if you're in a hurry, and not end up with the book in your lap.
