Looking for a stand for my es110 for gigging so needs to be fairly light and foldable. But sturdy to play.Willl be seating down.

Are these any good

On Stage Stands WS8540

I have tried to look for the bigger one the WS8550 but cant find for sale in UK.

I really like the K&M 18810 Omega stand but its expensive and quite heavy to carry.

What about these

Quik-Lok MONOLITH and Z/716

or the Quiklok Z72

But concerned about the weight.

Also what a light for the stand on the keyboard anybody got any favourites?.Will need to fight on the plastic music stand pf the Es110.

Just waiting in for the delivery of the Electro-voice ZXA1 speaker!! lets hope the recommendations where right about how it play back the piano sound.

Thanks

I really like the Quik-Lok Monolith but you might experience the same issue as I.

In order for me to arrive at the best height, I was forced to take my stand to a metal shop and have them chop off a few centimeters of the base support rails (that hold the top sliding rails). If you buy one, buy locally in case you have to return it if you encounter the same issue and don't feel like having it chopped.

What's nice, it folds flat and doesn't take up much space though it is heavy. It will outlive me and I still have 30 years or so to go, fingers crossed.

K&M 18880 is super light, but a bit pricey. If you want light, aluminum is the way to go, but that always makes it more expensive.

I recently got one Stellar Labs Keyboard Stand based on the reviews and I have been happy with it, my only issue is that it's a little high on the lower position but as I use it with a hydraulic desk chair it's actually fine.

I have the Monolith as well and it did exactly what Dave did (chop off an inch and a half of the bottom rails) but I just did that with a Dremel tool in my garage. Except for it being a couple of inches too high for proper piano height while sitting down, it is a great and exceptionally sturdy stand.

I think when quiklok was designing it, they didn't take into account how high/thick some higher end stage pianos are.

The Monolith is really heavy and sturdy (stainless steel construction) and the form factor is great because there is nothing that gets in the way of your knees or feet when sitting down.

The only possible downside other than the rail height is that it isn't most balanced when they keyboard is at standing height, due to the angle of the rails. It's not tippy or anything, you can just tell the center of gravity is a bit forward when it is low (especially when chopped).

Hi - not sure if your query was for my post but if it was, the stand comes in 3 pieces:

1) Left side legs
2) Right side legs
3) Bar that goes across the 2 legs

To dismantle you undo the 2 screws (with the allen key) of either end of the bar that goes across (2-3 mins max).

I have used a Hercules compact music stand for gigs for about five years now. It is quite light but very sturdy. It sort of looks like those cheap folding music stands, but it is surprisingly strong and stable, plus it folds up into a very small package.

For lights, two alternatives:

a) Battery-powered light that clips onto music rest (bright, portable):

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DuetLED

b) USB-powered light -- I can't find it online, but I own one. Has 6 LED's on a flexible stalk, plugs into the "thumb drive" USB port (if your keyboard has one).

I have the Duet that Charles mentions. I also purchased this:

MAESTRO GEAR 10 LED Clip On Music Stand Light / Orchestra Lamp

I bought from Amazon, but it seems to be available from a variety of sources. More LEDs make it quite bright, and I like the foldability - which makes it compact to tote, but also gives me more flexibility in directing the light right where I want it. (Note: Batteries need to be fresh to assure maximum brightness. I use it plugged in whenever possible so I don't have to rely on the batteries. Thought my eyesight was going bad - it was just the light gradually dimming as the batteries wore down!)

I think I may want to try Charles' rec of a USB-powered light for my portable needs - could be the perfect answer. Oh - and they're cheap!! (I now use the Maestro Gear light on my acoustic piano.)

I've thought of buying this music stand, RAT Jazz, because it folds up so compactly. It is pricey though.

Don't do it. I had two. One broke. Very hard work to open up. Very heavy.

That's disappointing to hear. When did you buy them?

My USB-powered LED light (on a gooseneck) is made by Logiix (not a mis-spelling) -- Google "Logiix led usb" for a bunch of hits.

IMHO, the battery-powered two-stalk LED light, that clips onto a music stand, is a better choice. But that depends on how and where you play.

I think it's been three or four years. Perhaps even shipped from Europe to US. I don't remember exactly.

I asked because I would like to think that kinks in their production process might have been worked out; I've seen very positive reviews online.

I'm thinking about buying one just because it folds up so compactly. I really don't need to buy one and it would be great if others who bought one would chime in.

This stand is more compact when folded and is very sturdy.
