I think it is very unfortunate (in my opinion) that glass is not interchangeable. I have invested enough in Canon L lenses that it would be difficult to switch back to Nikon (my film camera was a Nikon & I liked it very much) because I would have to purchase all new lenses. If I could just switch bodies I might consider it. However, I can still fantasize about all of the new developments, which are mind-boggling to say the least! Are you on a camera forum?

[I know this is off-topic, but we are just chatting until Jay's RD-2000 arrives. . .] smile

Not as a Nikon guy no.

The camera forums are even more nightmarish than PW for rumour, specualtion, and un-truth. All the misinformation that pervaded PW is multiplied by probably 9 million on any one Camera forum. hahahaha

Oh yeah. The first forums I sought out were photo/camera, er, focused, especially when trying to figure things out. I did find some useful information and a few people were genuinely helpful, but the overall impression was of an astonishing amount of animosity and hubris, even though I was used to being around musicians, writers, and artists. It's been some time since I've looked at a photo forum, however.

Speaking of photography, my father worked at the Metallurgical Lab at the University of Chicago during WWll. While sitting next to Enrico Fermi, He used an electron microscope to take pictures of the first controlled nuclear chain reaction.
I am my father's genetically modified son!

It does have a Studio Grand #34. How equivalent to RD800's only you may tell. smile

My favorite so far is Bright Concert (#2) though I still did not have the time to fully explore the other sounds I liked.

Oh, it's a great picture - has a higher pixel density in the middle, just like your eyes. Too many to count - it's more neural than pixelated. Not sure how I can send it to you. You might have to make your own. wink

OOOOHHHHHH that's some good news! I will definitely be looking to see how close it is.

Thank you!

knowing me I wont download the tone list or manual....and probably won't read the paper one. I know Roland OS's pretty well. I will come here and ask if I get stuck....hahahaha

FWIW yesterday I, just out of curiosity, loaded the two Axial extensions:

Extension 1
Extension 2

There are a few recordings in these pages with some sounds but the extensions have many other piano sounds as well more synth like ones. Purists might hate some but I on the "I love having options" side. wink

Can both files be loaded into the same EXP Bank or will one simply erase the other when installing?

I just discovered the answer for myself. If you decide to install EXP2 into Bank A on the RD2000, it will erase what you already have there.

I didn't realize the second Axial pack was out.

Wow. More pianos was the last thing the RD-2000 needed.

I tend to agree. smile I liked the 7SX Superior pad. I suppose the bigger advantage (for me at least) of these extensions (full of piano variations) is giving ideas to customize the native sounds to produce similar sounds.

I look forward to more exhotic extensions though.

I mentioned before my favorite piano sound so far is Bright Concert (#2) which is in the SN generator. All the V-Pianos sound more or less the same to me (headphones fault?), somewhat muffled. I edited the Stage Grand (#1)
(Tone Designer->Individ. Voicing->Character)
and changed all keys character to the hightest (brightest) level. I liked the result for middle/high octaves, need to revert or reduce for lower octaves.

HTH.

PS: I saved as a new program, I do not know if it is possible to store as a new sound.

Well...when it finally came time, I knuckled under to the wishes of my wife for a cleaner look without all the cables and external speakers, and got myself a nice white, full stand and triple pedal FP-90.

Brought it home today, and played it for an hour. Some tweaks to make in the piano designer, but so far, very happy.

Good to know Jay, you make my same choice (with the same kind of "pressure" LOL).
I'll wait for your impression on your favourite piano sound (concert?).
Do you have a favourite headphone to use with it? I'm starting thinking that my Senn 380 don't fit FP90 sound well.
