It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
I am having problems connecting to ipad3. I know the es110 is transmitting and I can see the ipad but its not seeing anything!! Anybody any ideas? Dont really use apple just borrowing it to try the kawai apps.
Any idea what i can do. It sees my Amazon Fire phone but not the kawai? What do i need to do?
My iPad won't natively pair with my DP on bluetooth. I don't know why. I use the app 'midimittr' to pair via 'sources, clients'. In the music app I set the midi connection option on, and away it goes.
I have an iPad 2. The max iOS version I could install (iOS 9) didn't have a bluetooth stack that correctly supported pairing with my ES110 (though I don't know if it's because the iOS version was the problem or the bluetooth firmware was the problem.) I was able to pair fine to my iPhone 6s which has iOS 10 and later bluetooth firmware. Obviously I don't know if this is the case for the iPad 3 but it's possible. I would make sure it's on iOS 10.
Now learning: Chopin C# minor Nocturne (posth), Mozart Sonata in C K. 545, R. Schumann Fantasy Dance, Joplin The Chrysanthemum Instruments: Yamaha N1X, Kawai ES110, Roland GO:PIANO, Piano de Voyage

I think this is my problem . Unfortunately I ipad3 cannot update to 10 !!! so it looks like its no go. I should have tried before updating!!
I'm a little late to this thread, however if you have not done so already, please try following the Bluetooth MIDI connectivity guide at the following page:
It's important to note that in iOS, the Bluetooth connection is made through the music app itself, not the main Settings app. This method is a little counter-intuitive, but it works.
Regarding OS versions, I believe Bluetooth MIDI (BLE) support was added in iOS 8, so iOS9 should also work. I use 1st generation iPad Air which just updated itself to iOS 11, and I've never had any problems with Bluetooth MIDI - either using a Quiccosound mi.1, or the built-in Bluetooth on the ES110 or CN27/CN37.
