We'll travel by car from Algarve (south of Portugal) and we are about 450km/5h away from Malaga. I think 1PM is fine for us too..

I don't think I'll go, SwissMS. My holidays are in August.

UKIkarus- We should be able to meet you at the airport on Thursday. I have my fingers crossed that your +1 can join us!
joe80 - let us know when you decide on dates to visit. Maybe we can still get together for some piano!
Frank - I wish you could join us. It would be great to see you and Kathy again. If you decide to visit Spain at another time you are always welcome! I'll be down from August 13th to 26th.... and my parents don't have a piano.... How close are you to Benahavis? ;-)

Benahavis is near Marbella, and is about an hour from us. I have house guests from the 21st through the 30th, but if you want a piano fix before that, feel free to pm me! I love meeting other piano-worlders!

This sounds so fun! I only just noticed this thread when I had to re-login to piano world (normally I only view the piano forum). I checked my work schedule, and it looked like I would only have to swap one shift on Sept 10 to go. Then I checked fares to Malaga ($1300—not too bad).
I was getting really excited, and then I remembered that I have to testify at a homicide trial on September 6-7. :-(
Anyhow, I will have to look at the party forum more often in the future.

Thanks SwissMS for the program planning!
My sister's flight will land on Friday 8th at 12:20, mine at 15:50. On Sunday 10th her flight leaves at 15:15, mine at 16:45. So this should give us time to participate in the planned activities.
My grand piano is a Yamaha C2 SG. My other Yamaha is an XMAX 300.

2 weeks remain until I fly out, 18 days until we all have a blast! Coming up fast, hope everyone is ready, look forward to seeing you all again soon.
(Am trying to practice my piece but my hearing has gone currently and I can't hear the piano, going to see the doctors today so fingers crossed it'll be sorted by then)

That sounds terrible UKIkarus! I hope your hearing gets better soon!
I just sent a PM to everyone with my contact information and address for the party. For those getting together Friday night, we will meet at the MS Maestranza hotel at 6:00 pm for the trip up to the castle. (adress: Avenida Cánovas del Castillo, 1 - 29016 Malaga)
If you are not interested in visiting Gilbrafaro, Alcazabar, and the Roman Ampitheater, we will be having dinner at La Reserva de Oliva, Address: Plaza del Carbón, 2, at 8:00 pm. You can meet us there.
See you soon!

We are in the final count down! The piano was tuned yesterday, and sounds great. The weather is predicted to be very nice. I can't wait to see you guys!

Just checked the weather. Is it true that temperatures around 30°C are to be expected? This will be quite a shock. In Nürnberg, the early morning temperatures are already in the one-digit area; and I have caught a slight cold...

Hi PatH - The forecast is for a high of 28 on Friday, 32 on Saturday, and 28 on Sunday. The humidity is not high now, and the mornings and evenings are wonderful. Sorry to hear that you caught a cold! I have a small change in plans for Friday. After the visit to Gilbrafaro and Alcazabar, we will have dinner at the open air restaurant Atico at the top of the Málaga Palace Hotel. The views from there are a great way to see the town. Here is the location. http://www.espanol.marriott.com/hotels/maps/travel/agpmg-ac-hotel-malaga-palacioAC Hotel Málaga Palacio Cortina del Muelle, 1

SwissMs that sounds great! After the heat we had here over the summer, even 28 with no humidity, is fine. 32 will be a tad toasty It's been cooler here the last week- down to low 20s, nothing like in Nurenberg though. Patrick - hope your cold is gone by the time you have to fly -- flying with a cold is really unpleasant.

Our apartment is always 24C, so even though it is a bit warm on Saturday, we will play in air-conditioned comfort!
You can watch the people baking on the beach from our salon, or go down and take a dip yourself! The water is very nice this time of year. There is very little wave action most of the time, and little wind.

We're home! It was a fabulous weekend. SwissMs and GMajor are the bests hosts ever. We had absolutely perfect weather - Malaga is delightful - the food was wonderful, and the piano was amazing!
I have to transfer pics from my phone to my pc to post them here ... will work on that for tomorrow. In the meantime - a huge thank you to our superb Costa del Sol hosts --- we had a wonderful time with you!
It was great to see PatH, and his sister, UKIKarus plus one, and to meet Moonshine and his family - particularly his 10 year old son who was very likely the most relaxed pianist of the day. Loved his enthusiasm and energy!
CarlosCC - you and Mrs. Carlos were missed Saranoya - we were really sorry to not have you and A. with us too.-- Next time!
