Sorry SwissMS, we will not join you after all. It's a long flight for a short 2/3-day trip - and we can't be away from home for more than that during the summer. I will be waiting for your photos and videos!

We definitely want to see those historical sites! For the Game Of Thrones fans, "The City Of Dorne" is in the neighbourhood, as well as the "Long Bridge of Volantis"!

Pruebo de estudiar un poquito espanol antes del viaje. The lovely thing about romance languages is that you can figure out what is being said most of the time, even without google The last few times we have been in Spain we've managed with English and Italian - but picking up a bit of Spanish would be fun --- Olà !

So, just to confirm, I have managed to get the hotel booking extended from Thursday to Monday and as such will be arriving on the Thursday. I don't yet know what time as I have yet to confirm the flights (yes I'm doing it all backwards but put a deposit on so I didn't miss out on the opportunity and it's definitely cheaper to fly out that day vs friday!) so now I need to figure out the best means of getting to the airport and the best times on the day. It's also kind of resting on whether or not my +1 will come with me, which is still as of this moment up in the clouds

My parents live in Benahavis, and I'm planning to go down to visit at some point to escape the Scottish misery weather..... but I can't confirm what dates yet.

Wow, we would have loved to join you, just not in the budget this year.
We will be there in spirit, and expecting lots of pictures!
Best, Frank & Kathy

UKIkarus- We should be able to meet you at the airport on Thursday. I have my fingers crossed that your +1 can join us!
joe80 - let us know when you decide on dates to visit. Maybe we can still get together for some piano!
Frank - I wish you could join us. It would be great to see you and Kathy again. If you decide to visit Spain at another time you are always welcome!

Looks like this is about the fastest and most cost effective way to get into the city!

Our stop will be the third one - I think for the majority it will be the fourth.

Yes, that is the best way to go. It is €3,50 per person. The other alternative is a taxi - which is the fastest way, but costs about €20.
The Larios stop is the main entrance to El Centro, the old city. If you are staying there, it is beautiful area, and an easy walk to our place.
We are trying to firm up some details for the party weekend, and should have some alternative ideas in the next week.
I am really looking forward to hosting this!

I am trying to firm up some reservations at this point, so I would like to get an idea of the number of total attendees. So far I have the following confirmed:
CarlosCC + 1 Casinitaly +1 PatH +1 UKikarus +?1 Moonsh1ne + 3 Sayanora +1 Recaredo
Possibles: ??Albunea ??
We are planning a tour Friday evening as follow: We will arrange transportation up to castle Gilbrafaro, tour there, and then tour theadjacent Moorish fortress (Alcazabar). Then we will take the elevator back down from Alcazabar to town, Then we will tour past the Roman ampitheater and into El Centro (the historical district). We will have Tapas and dinner in El Centro. Starting at the castle, everything is downhill, so it will not be a strenuous walk. The footing is mostly tile or flagstone. It is not a great distance. Keep in mind it could be hot in September, so we will make this tour around 6:00 pm or so in the evening. If people are up for it, after dinner we could walk back to our place for a night cap to see the night views over the castles, city, and Mediterranean.
Saturday I propose we get together about 11 am to start playing piano. We will have a lunch at our place around 2:00, and can continue to play after, or go to the beach, or what ever people are up for. Saturday evening is not settled yet. I would like to do something on the beach, but we are still negotiating possibilities. After dinner we can walk over to Muelle Uno, which usually has free entertainment in the evening until midnight. September 9th is the last day of the Flamenco Festival, so we might be treated to dance, song and guitar! Their September schedule is not posted yet.
So that is what I have at this point! Casinitaly's information on the bus transportation to the hotel is very good. It is a good and easy option. For transportation around Malaga as well, the buses are very reliable and inexpensive. Taxis are also readily available, and quite reasonably priced. One note on buses though - they stop running at 11:00 pm. Taxis are always available though.
For those who are staying longer, we will look for some additional activities.
Let me know if there is anything that you would like to see or do in Malaga, and I will check it out! See you all soon!

Just to confirm that we're arriving on Saturday, at lunch time. So, we are going directly to your place. Looking forward to meet you all again!

Sounds good, Carlos! We are looking forward to seeing you and Ana too!
Since you are coming in on Saturday, maybe we will delay the start time on Saturday a bit. That would also allow everyone to have time to do something Saturday morning. Perhaps it would be better if we all get together about 1:00 pm or so? How does that work for everyone?
I will send a pm to everyone of our address and contact information a couple of weeks before the event weekend.
