Congratulations on passing the exam, even though you're not too happy with your score. The Novelette is one of my favourites from Kabalevsky, and I think you played it beautifully.

I've started playing January 2017, Nothing is too easy is where I keep track of my progress.

Rosewood17, thank you for sharing! I think this is a very lively performance, and you played it well! I couldn't catch your mistakes though, as it is very smoothly played!

Thanks for your kind words Keselo. We all have our particular fight against ourselves in piano. Keep going. I guess that our best allied is patience and keep going no matter what......😎😎

40. Granados, Sensitiva (Pianist 96) - Beautiful! Definitely a keeper!
41. Chaminade, Intermezzo (Pianist 96) - This took me ages and it's not mastered, definitely not "beginner/intermediate" as they say on the magazine.
42. Beethoven, German Dance (Alfred’s Exploring 4)
43. Martha Mier, River City Blues (RCM Etudes 6) - So refreshing, another keeper for sure!

Sorry for the delay in the reply, but do you possibly have the opus number for the Granados or would you be willing to make a recording ? I wasn't able to find it by a simple Internet search

I can't be sure if that's the one (hope sinophilia can tell). It's just what I could find searching. There is one in that collection that has either unknown title or the title is " X. ....?" laugh Maybe it is that one? I do like it: Video

I really need to start completing my WIP pieces, this is getting out of hand. But, I guess whatever it takes to get me sitting at that piano, right?

This one is a bit of a departure, but I do think it's a nice song/piece. It's only the first half/intro so far, but, being a pop song, I think it's mostly just repetition with a little variation now until the end. Hopefully I'll finish it in the next few days.

1. The Happy Farmer - Robert Schumann (Recording)
2. Comptine d'un autre été (From "Amélie") - Yann Tiersen (Recording)
3. Etude Op. 46 No. 11 In B minor ("Fluttering Leaves") - Stephan Heller (Recording)
4. Prelude Op. 28 No. 7 In A Major - Chopin (Recording)
5. Prelude in C minor - Chopin (Recording)
6. WIP - Summertime - Gershwin (Recording)
7. WIP - Nocturne - Ending - Chopin (Recording)
8. La La Land - Mia and Sabastiens Theme - Justin Hurwitz (Recording)
9. All I Ask Of You - Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber (Recording)
10. Where Is My Mind - The Pixies (Recording)
11. WIP - Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Arr. George Shearing (Recording)
12. WIP - Sorry - Justin Bieber (Recording)

"Sensitive" = "Sensitiva" in Spanish so I think it's just a typo? It is the same piece.

I also love that piece from Pianist Mag (I shared a recording a few weeks back): Soundcloud

I searched high and low and could not find the sheet music for the "Apariciones" series either. However, it was a precursor to Granados' Valses Poeticos - a series which is easy to find. I just finished learning No. 5 from that series and will share in the next week or so (I recently developed "trigger thumb" and need it to improve before recording anything new).

I think I skipped all of June for this challenge in favor of my own music. I'm back at it now trying NOT to beat the troubadour over the head with his own guitar. First part is fine it repeats but the 2nd half has been troublesome. Taking it slow trying to get it under my hands. I've had a hard time trying to memorize that section so I can concentrate on fingering and accuracy as well as dynamics. It has a crescendo section that's 4 bars long I need to address properly.

Oh and Happy 4th of July to those of you that celebrate smile I work tonight but I'll see some of the fireworks on my drive to work.

I have Pianist Magazine No 96. The piece is Sensitiva, No 7 from Apariciones.

Here is my progress.

1. Grieg: Halling, Lyric pieces Op. 38 No. 4
2. Bach: Prelude in C major, BWV 933
3. Kuhlau: Sonatina Op. 20 No. 1, movement 1
4. Clementi: Arietta, Op. 42 No. 5
5. Burgmüller: La Candeur, Op. 100 No. 1
5. Bach: Minuet in G major, BWV Anh. 114
6. Schumann: Melodie, Op. 68 No. 1
7. Malaqueña
8. Bartók: Sorrow, For Children Vol. 2, No. 7
9. Piano Plus Graded Repertoire Book One: Preliminary and Introductory: all pieces
10. Kuhlau: Sonatina op. 20 no 1, movement 2
11. Khován: Follow me!
12. Schumann: op 68 no 2 Soldier’s march
13. Burgmüller: op 100 no 2 Arabesque
14. L. Mozart: Burlesque in G major
15. W.A. Mozart: Ecossainse in C major
16. C. Gurlitt: Little dance
17. A sad princess
18. Coldplay: Clocks
19. Burgmüller: op 100 no 3 Pastorale
20. Kabalevsky: March op 39 no 10
21. Zilinskis: Latvian polka

Arabesque by Burgmüller took me several months. It should be easy judging by its grade, but for me it was very challenging to get it up to speed.
