I don't want to upstage the upcoming ABF and Spanish recitals so I'm going to set this off in the distant future. I will bump the thread from time to keep the thing semi-alive.

I tried to see if there was an International Waltz Day but all I could find was a 'National Dance the Waltz day'. No mention of which nation but I think Britain. So that seems close enough

This is the sign up thread of the Waltz Themed Recital!

To add to the list, quote the last entry of the list and remove the quote. Post the new list with your entries and with this red text included.

The recital will be March 4, 2018 and will use the ABF recital software. The call for submissions thread will be created February 18th and the recital will go live March 4.

There are a few rules which have been used in ABF’s previous themed recitals (It comes down to no rules really)
- More than 1 submission per performer allowed
- Multiple submissions of the same piece are allowed
- Piano duets are allowed
- All submitted material is your own.

Here’s a list of composers to get you going:

Schubert
Chopin
Brahms
Debussy
Ravel

Feel free to post YouTube recordings of pieces that you find interesting and that meet the needs of the various levels of playing ability by forum members.

2018! I might be able to actually get ready for this. But I will forget about it first!

Wow. Off the bat, there are some great composers with mix in theme, Fats Waller-can't wait to hear this one. We are going to have to bump this post ...I will consult with my teacher on this one, as I would like to add a new piece plus relearn/enhance Chopin op 69. March 2018, very doable, but I am known to procrastinate!

I won't add an item to this thread until I ask this question: Would it be OK to enter my own composition? I have been told that my "Waltz In A Minor" is pretty good for an amateur, and I have a recording of it from a live recital a month ago.

Can only offer an opinion as I've no authority on the matter. So my opinionated opinion is that I would be fine with hearing one of your own waltz compositions. So long as a waltz, I think is completely suitable for a waltz themed recital. However, I would not be so fine with hearing a recording of it from a year prior from a different recital. If you can improve it and record again for this recital, more so.
