In the winter I began practising the piano again after years away from it. My technique surprisingly improved(recovered) rapidly.

Then I got sick, and for various reasons practiced very little or sporadically when I did. Today I started to play, and my fingers seemed shaky and lacking co-ordination. The left hand was uneven, and chords were missing notes. Same with right hand, to the point where in attempting to play pianissimo, the notes wouldn't sound at all. I have the latter problem in general when playing softly so if anyone has any tips, I would appreciate it.

The shakiness is what's bothering me. Will this go away with practice? I don't have any neurological problems, but this is upsetting. Any help/input greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Sounds like all of us adult restarter's. Just go back to the basics, technical studies of every kind and slow everything down while counting aloud until it is easier and work your way up. Patience & goals will be needed.

By the way you may want to move this to the Adult Beginners forum.

Hi and thanks for your feedback. Can or should I delete this post, or just ask the question in the appropriate group?

No need to delete this, there's nothing wrong in posting here, but you might get a better response from Pianist Corner. Welcome to the Piano World Forums!
