Hi,

It's my first post here in Piano World, I purchased KAWAI MP7 last month and I really like and love all the features and sounds it include, almost very happy with this keyboard!! Compared to MP11 witch include the 'Brilliance' from Virtual Technician parameters, could it be possible if KAWAI engineers come out with an new update for MP7 that features 'Brilliance' parameters? It would come on very handy.

Otherwise, is there any tweaking I can do from the EQ? Sorry for my broken english.

Thanks so much KAWAI for the wonderful keyboard.

Hi Nor, congratulations for the purchase. You can find interesting the following special discussion about MP7:

http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2243853/KAWAI_MP7_THREAD.html

I do not know details about MP11, but I think Virtual Technician is the same in both instruments, as well as many voices.

Hello Nordine, welcome to the forum!

As you note, the MP7 does not include the 'Brilliance' Virtual Technician parameter that is available on the MP11.

I'm not entirely sure of the exact reason why, however I believe it relates to the way sounds are controlled and organised in the two boards.

However, it should be possible to reproduce 'Brilliance'-like characteristics on the MP7 by applying one of the EQ/Filter effects to the zone and increasing the higher frequencies.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
James

Hi,

Thanks lot for your reply guys. You know, my KAWAI MP7 is the first one arrived to Morocco. Most players here plays Yamaha, Clavinovas, Casio, Korg, Roland and rare NordStage DSP... I never seen a KAWAI DP here.

I think you may well be right!

Just out of curiosity, may I ask from where did you purchase the MP7?

Anyway, I'm always to happy to read that customers are enjoying their MPs in different parts of the world.

If you have not done so already, may I recommend that you check that your board is running the latest v1.14 software, available from the URL below:

http://www.kawaimp.com/mp7/media/downloads/

Thanks again for posting!

Cheers,
James

Hi James!

A friend of mine bring it to me from Thomann.de . He lives in Spain so he ordered to keyb online, after he received it from Germany he brings it home to me. I paid him 18600MAD

I'm running the last OS update v1.14

By the way, would it be possible to include the Shigeru piano sound in a further update? It's just an awesome sound very warm than the ones inside MP7... If not, it would be great if KAWAI put the Shigeru piano library online as a download after order, then we into a usb flash memory that we plug and flash the rom inside MP7!! hhh I know it's a crazy idea but who knows!

Hello Nordine,

Thank you for this additional information. I think that's a fair price to pay for the instrument.

To answer your question, I'm afraid it is not possible to add/replace sounds via a software update, unfortunately.

Kind regards,
James

Well, I see.... but still my idea was if the Shigeru piano sound would be sold on a usb stick like en extension to the keyboard, so that we run the sound from the usb stick without any flashing of rom. This is just my idea to KAWAI, hope they take it i consideration.

As you know James, Yamaha, Korg and NORD CLAVIA are selling sounds libraries as a extensions to the keybs, buyers can run the sound either from the usb stick or load them inside their keybs.

Hello Nordine,

Thank you for your suggestion. It is a nice idea, and something that I hope we pursue with future generation instruments.

However, the current generation Kawai DPs (including the MP7/MP11) were not developed to allow sample data to be replaced by users.

Kind regards,
James
