Specs look fabulous, hope they will put out demos soon.
As a devoted owner and user of the Garritan CFX i am hoping this will cut it for a different flavour.
I am not to impressed with the American D and other piano's and the Hammersmith pro which i own, lacks some playabilty compared to the Garritan.

The Steinway B is my personal favourite Steinway model, so hopefully this will be good !

This is coming soon smile

Since Namm I am monitoring the bestservice catalog, waiting for the new product.

Unfortunately, it is still not available. (And we have no demos yet on the Ivory site).

I am finding a demo for this with the provided link (above).

I just clicked on the Ivory II Grand Piano icon and a demo option appeared.

This is what I found ...

Ivory Grand Pianos is an other product. The Demo page has a button for each software product excepted Studio Piano.

Oh ... I see that, now.

The BUY NOW is very misleading.

If you click on the BUY NOW for the Studio Grand product, you get a page with an option to buy ... but it is an option to buy the Ivory II Grand Pianos product. That seems a bit unethical.

Yes, very misleading. I feel as if they just copied the old product page and forgot to change/remove the link. I hope they get it fixed before someone buys the wrong product!

As far as demos go, I would watch their Soundcloud page. I assume the demos will pop up there first, since the other demos are hosted on that site.

Since I am not in North America, I am not invited to "buy it now", but to "search a distributor". Mine doesn't have this product and it is clearer.

EDIT: I have seen that in the North America vendor web page, the top logo is about getting informed about the arrival of the Studio Grand product.

The free update works fine, I've had no problems updating to the 2.5 engine this evening and had a play with it, it's available to all existing Ivory 2, ACD or Italian grand owners.

http://synthogy.com/index.php/support/updates

The shimmer control is nice and adds something interesting/useful ( IMO). That said I used the Valhalla shimmer DSP plugin sometimes with ivory that has far more extensive controls, and it does much of the same, but the build in one affects it a bit differently .. very nice. smile

The half pedal velocity curve.addition is a nice touch too, now you can calibrate your pedal response curve, just like in pianoteq.

Good free update worth getting IMO, even if you don't buy the new pianos, all Ivory owners can get the updated engine for free. thumb

I'm curious. What setting (amount) did you use for the Shimmer control?

With the preset I was using at the time used sparingly I thought it worked quite nicely up to around +30%. High values do seem to make it somewhat unnatural in that it almost creates a feedback loop with reverb, you can get to a point some frequencies linger on unnaturally long and the decay becomes somewhat artificial sounding too in a way.

Personally from the brief play I had, I don't think there is any one definite value for me to say, it should be this or that to give a definitive answer at this point.

Depending on reverb levels, perhaps release samples multiplier too, and the soundboard choice I did not test extensively experiment with the latter 2 in combination, the amount one may wish to use depends on those settings too for the shimmer to stay under control. It is also quite possible to create some quite a synthy effects with it and go overboard for the fun of it if that is desired. smile

Probably, I suppose I'd say used quite sparingly for a more natural sound. I'd say it also depends on the sample sets you use. I only have ACD and the Italian grand, the latter I hardly ever use but the samples on the Italian shortly after attack decay more aggressively in volume out of the box than ACD, something I never quite liked about the Italian grand, I thought the extra bit of shimmer level helped to compensate for that quite nicely with that sample set (instead of using verbs and such), the individual notes don't die away so quickly then.

Keyscape is also 77gig (complete package) but I don't know the exact size just for the C7.

If this is of any use.

Synthogy Ivory II Studio Grands are 112GB, two piano samples, 56GB per piano - average size, one of the instruments can be bigger than the other. It's the Ivory II Grand Pianos which is 77GB, and it consists of three piano samples.
