I literally read through this entire thread just to see if I would have the opportunity to make essentially this joke first.

It's easy, but for all the wrong notes.

Coincidentally, just a few days ago I was Googling for info about a Chopin etude nickname (I thought it odd when I saw op. 10 #11 referred to as "Arpeggio," since they're not arpeggios, they're rolled chords) and I happened on this Wikipedia page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/√Čtudes_(Chopin)

...which to my surprise showed/shows nicknames for all but two of the op. 10/25 etudes. Never heard of most of those nicknames till now, including "wrong note" etude. I mean, c'mon -- "Sunshine" etude?..."The Bees" etude?

The Bees nickname seems rather well known though. Can't say that about sunshine. I hadn't heard that till now.

The former reminds me of flight of the bumblebee. Similar right hand. An incoherent flurry of notes... grin

I am not really qualified to comment, but perhaps excepting Op.10 No.9?

I understand some conservatory entrance exam specifically disallow Op.10 No.9 (as well as Op.10 No.3 for some reason, maybe same reason Liszt disallow Chopin's Scherzo #2).

op.25 no.5 is technically demanding - after about 50 hours of practice towards it, I've still a lot of work to do. LH wrist flexibility is critical for the opening section , as well a differentiating the variations on the wrong note theme- voicing the arpeggios down in the RH is a challenge for the melodic section.

To the original poster, have you considered that what you are playing may not actually be the wrong notes, but actually the right notes, just not necessarily played in the right order?

(As famously once said to Andrew Preview, ahem, I meant André Previn, by the legendary Ernie Wise).

I play enough wrong notes to turn this into the Right Note etude.

Grand Piano is a 2013 English-language Spanish thriller film directed by Eugenio Mira and starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack.[2] The film is about a once-promising pianist returning for a comeback performance, only to be the target of a sniper who will kill him if he plays one wrong note. The film premiered at Fantastic Fest on 20 September 2013[3] and was given a VOD release on 30 January 2014. It was given a limited release in U.S. theatres on 7 March.
