In all it's glorious failure including tons of hesitations and flubbed notes. Ye be warned grin

I'm just totally over this one and it's time to move on.

Anita Potter, there is no failure here! You are doing well. Take a moment, listen to what you played, and try to count how many things you got right or did well. You will have to keep hitting the pause button in order to make note of all of them. I heard a lot of well executed chords, notes that harmonized, notes that were logically within the melody (I didn't hear any notes that did not belong). In short, there are a lot of successes embedded within your playing. Deficiencies don't matter, they won't be around much longer, anyway. Take note of the good you produced, pat yourself on the back for what you have achieved, and make some more music! Looking forward to your next! smile

I may stop at 3 for a bit as I have so many other pieces that I'm drawn to!

Thank you Ralph smile I have a tendency to only focus on what I did wrong and never on what I did right especially with this one as it feels like there's so much more wrong than right with it. Still trying to get used to this piano I know I'm making progress however slight is is. #11 and #12 don't have a lot of chord hopping just finger shifting in the left hand and the right hand stays put so those 2 will probably come together quickly. #12 has staccato notes that I'm looking forward to learning how to do effectively and correctly since I could never play them on the Yamaha.

Again Ralph, thank you again for the kind words and I will try to focus more on the positives rather than the negatives.

Just updating my recordings - finally got around to recording Shostakovich (7) and Chopin (9). There can never be too many waltzes in the world, hey? ..and a better recording of the Mozart (5) on an in-tune piano.

The Shostakovich is harder than it looks... making all those vertical notes sounds as one... I don't recommend it for 40 pieces unless you have the patience of a saint or the skill of Dimitri himself, it drove me crazy!

(1) Chopin - Prelude in E Minor Op 28 No 4
(2) Zipoli - Prelude No I - Largo - good enough
(3) Kuhlau - Sonatina in C Major Op 20 No 1 (1st Movement)
(4) Nikolas Sideris - Never Give Up (2016)
(5) Mozart - Sonata in C K309 - third movement
(6) Yann Tiersen - Comptine d'un autre ete
(7) Shostakovich - Waltz No 2 (Second Waltz)
(8) Delibes - Valse Lente from Coppelia - not good enough for the recital but I'm claiming it anyway :-)
(9) CHopin -Waltz in A Minor (posthumous)
(10) Zequhina Abreu - Tico Tico No Fuba - working on it
(11) Rachmaninoff - Italian Polka (duet for EPP17) - working on it

That Shostakovich Waltz No. 2 is a real beauty, cathryn999. It's amazing how he can blend the mournful sounds of Russian anguish with the joy of the waltz. It's a bit like sweet and sour, or salty and sugary. Thanks for recording and posting. Well done! smile

Well, it took me a few days longer than I expected to post this. I completed the book and still am working on trying to get it all recorded.
"Pathways to Artistry" Masterworks, Book 1 📚- Catherine Rollin Alfred (20)

1. Etude in C, Op. 823, No 11- Carl Czerny
2. Canzonetta in A Minor- Géza Horváth
3. Roundelay- Joachim van den Hove
4. Allegretto, Op. 117, No. 5- Cornelius Gurlitt
5. Little Song in D Minor- Heinrich Wohlfahrt
6. The General's March- Alexander Reinagle
7. Copy Me!, Op. 117, No. 9- Cornelius Gurlitt
8. Little Etude- Elena Gnessina
9. George Washington's Minuet- Alexander Reinagle
10. Song in G, Op. 218, No. 20- Louis Köhler
11. Trumpet 🎺 Fanfare, Op. 117, No. 8- Cornelius Gurlitt
12. Petite Music Box- Cornelius Gurlitt
13. Play with Me- Hermann Berens
14. March in C- Ernst Köhler
15. A Dialogue- Béla Bartók
16. 🎶Melody in G- Frederich Baumfelder
17. The Teasing Game, Op. 117, No. 7- Cornelius Gurlitt
18. The Brave Knight- Wilhelm Moritz Vogel
19. Russian 💃 Dance- Alexander Goedicke
20. Playful Etude, Op. 17, No. 6- Felix Le Couppey

I have been currently working on Mikrocosmos and Czerny. I visited a friend who happened to have an older digital keyboard and a cell phone that could record. I recorded many exercises, but I don't know about downloading them somewhere. They sound so unusual and the recordings aren't really clear. The keyboard didn't have touch sensitivity, that's why they sound so one dimensional. However, I may post them just so I have a record of some of my hard work.

@Ralphiano - thanks. I love that piece, it's a bit of an earworm though. I love your description - sweet & sour, salty & sugary - yes. Charming and menacing at the same time. :-)

This is a lovely piece! I will have to check out Khachaturian.

And thanks for posting your entire playlist, as oftentimes I either don't have time to listen to everything the first time around, or I don't connect with the composer until later on when I've encountered them.

This one went better than the last one. I probably should've paid attention to the order of difficulty list in the Op. Still not perfect hit the wrong cord after the first repeat of the first section and hit the wrong note at the end. I'm progressing and trying to concentrate on keeping my fingering on the chords the same as I had a tendency to shift to a different position which threw me off.

No recording for "Whole World", unfortunately. It was recorded on the DP. When I went to transfer it to my computer a few days later, there was only random key presses, bumps, and thumps. Now I know my 2-year old can finally reach the buttons! Kids, I tell ya, they never announce these things ahead of time...

Isn't your exam coming up later this month? Good luck, you are going to do fine.

A few minutes ago I was on my Soundcloud page and your Martha Meier Prelude was linked on the right side of my page, so I listened in. It was very nice!
