Yikes! You can get an iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and ForScore app for about 1/2 that price.

Unsurprisingly, $1,600 is about 2x the price of one 13.3" e-ink tablet, such as:

- anticipated higher definition 2017 13" e-ink tablets (new Sony DPT-RP1 & new Netronix-Onyx Boox). T

- other e-ink tablets (old Sony DPT-S1, Good 13" Android reader)

These large e-ink screens are expensive but are nice for reading. For home use, a good wide computer display seems to be a relative bargain.

It would be nice if their promotion photo didn't show the score looking grey and washed-out! E-ink screens have pretty good contrast ratio, even on my very old Kindle from 2010!

The techie side of me would like something like this, but only if I had plenty of money to burn.... as it is, I'm still stuck to paper for now.

I actually get the appeal for professional circles, they tried to make it looking like a music sheet so it can be used in concerts etc without looking out of the place. Ipad is a light source, it would be very distracting in a concert. When ipad falls from the stand, its screen is gone. E-ink withstands abuse.
Also the battery life would be infinitely better as e-ink doesn't consume anything when it is just resting displaying page, so you can be sure it never run out of the juice when you forget it on, which in concert everyone will.

I was doing a lot of large concerts on outdoor festivals (as a av tech director) and one constant issue classical music players have is breeze messing with the pages even with the cloth pins they use to hold them. Lot of fun watching panicking oboist to find the correct page before the solo. Violinist would just look at the friends sheet or "wing it" if lost.

I totally get this device. And orchestra is used to burn through the money anyway, I don't think the price would be that of a big deal. It is useless for us, $100 ipad 2 from ebay does the trick nicely, but pros may feel different.
