Hello Pianoworld Community,

I, wrongly, posted this in the Tuner/Technicians Forum before, now I hope this is the right place smile. So here's the problem:
About one and a half years ago I got myself a new Yamaha Clavinova CLP-585PE. I don't know if I just didn't notice it these 1 1/2 years or if it just didn't occur, but in the last couple of weeks it started to really annoy me, especially when playing stuff like the first movement of Appassionata. The sustain pedal makes this weird, and also really loud clicking noise, once I press it down and again when I release it. It gets so annoying that I sometimes, for the sake of the piece, don't use it anymore.
Another problem that occured (not only on this e-piano but also on my previous one) is that, for some keys, if pressed with a certain (low) intensity, it sounds like they are being pressed with the highest intensity possible, which is also really disturbing. The affected keys are the eb2 and the ab (and some others, but it mostly occurs for these two).

Did anyone have similar problems and might know how to fix them?
I'd be very thankful for every advice.

Kind regards,
Anton.

I've just assumed ownership of the Clavinova CLP-575 PE, with a very similar sustain pedal problem. I hope it is something that can be luricated away.

The USA warranty is for five years.
What is the warranty duration in Germany?

I had the pedal clicking noise, I sold mine though eventually, the keys you describe are easily fixable as I had the same issue with my Roland hp107 piano many years ago, but it shouldn't happen anyway to such a relatively new instrument. Definitely can be fixed by technician under warranty.

Regarding your pedal noise, I assume the pedal support bolt is properly adjusted?

I'm having a Yamaha visit under warrantee for mine, arranged by the shop from which I bought the piano. I'm glad I did not buy from a website.

Home service is good to have, and you can expect that with Yamaha's warranty in the US.

But it's not so in other countries. The OP is in Germany. He has not yet described his warranty situation.

adurx, regarding the pedal clicking noise, it's perhaps worth double checking that the pedal bolt which supports the base of the pedals is fully extended to the floor.

Kind regards,
James

No if it's as mine it's inside the sprung pedal mechanism. The bolt is down. It's a bug with some of the GP response damper pedals I suspect.

I guess pedal spring and pedal actuator makes a click sound.
Please check white grease part and actuator clearance.
Grease is a noise stopper.

Thanks Pro-TAC for the photographs of great interest. I should not have to take the top off a piano to fix a fault (even to lubricate a part) I found and reported to the seller on the day it was delivered though. I will see what the Yamaha guy says upon his attendance.
