Hi all!
I have decided to get me a new DP as birthday present to myself.
I was first thinking of the LX-17 but now the CLP-685 coming in the summer.
I know it is two types of DP, one modeling and one sampled.
In LX-17 you can save your modifications in a reg. memory, and there is also a nice app. for doing changes on the piano settings.
CLP-685 is newer and have some nice sampled pianos, just at a button.
I talk to a Yamaha tecnican about the Piano room and he told me that it´s not possible to save anything there. So when for ex. when you chose a new piano all your settings in piano room is gone.
Is CLP-685 more better for home use.
I am confused
Please give me some advice , what should u did?
I am not an advanced player and only play at home.

I have no idea about the new Yamaha, but the Roland Piano Designer App is very nice and allows a lot of sound tweaking with some nice professional presets to choose from. You can save the results from the App to the piano, but there are some quirks in the way parameters are saved (some parameters are global, others not) which makes it less practical than it could be when switching between presets on the piano interface (since the global parameters don't change accordingly). In short the App works best if you use one preset at a time stored in the piano (so the piano is ready to go without the App) or use the App all the time to switch between complete piano presets (then all the global parameters change accordingly). Alternatively the default piano sounds are pretty good anyway if you want to keep things simple - but the Piano Designer App does improve on it quite a bit if you are willing to put up with its quirks.

I don't think you could go wrong with either. They're both for home use.

Have you played the Roland? I think you should wait until you try the new Yamaha since that is a brand new action they are releasing.

Looks like you currently have the CVP-609, so that should tide you over for a few months. Then you can maybe do a side-by-side comparison, or at least try them both out within a couple of days of each other to be able to compare.

FWIW since customizing the sound and saving the settings are important to you, Kawai's CS11 has a Virtual Technician that allows you to customize your sounds and save them as presets, so when you turn your DP on, that is what is called up right away. You can also save other presets to current sounds. IT's pretty customizable, and also a great action.

If customizing sound is important to you, look into the LX-17 first. Another option is the Kawai CS8 or CS11. The CLP-685 will only be an option if it has been massively improved from the CLP-585, which had very little to almost no customization options.

Between the LX-17 and the CLP-585, the LX-17 is the better piano, by far. (For me.)
Between the CS8 and CS11, the LX-17 is still better, but the CS8 and 11 offer very, very good value for money. In fact, if the CS11 had come in two pieces, there would have been a great chance I'd have ended up with that one.

The CS8 is a great piano for the price, but the LX17 just feels more powerful with a bigger sound (and I don't mean that with regard to loudness). I could afford the price difference, so I went with the LX17.

Thanks all!
CLP-685 have a new keybord and some better speaker system, but i have only se it on U-tube.
It will come to Sweden in juli so maybe take a look at before i decide.
I must say the LX-17 sounds great and have some nice options.
