In your opinion.

yawn

Here we go with this nonsense again.

The only reason why this nonsense follows you around is because of the manner in which you express yourself.

I agree. When someone expresses their opinion in a factual fashion, without a simple "IMO" or "I think", they invite this reasonable criticism.

I'd listen to the Brahms nine times out of ten.

As would I. I wrote a detailed analysis of the Brahms for an Orchestral Literature course in college. I've loved the piece ever since.

My initial exposure to the Beethoven was as a kid watching Disney's Fantasia on the big screen. Perhaps that soured it for me. grin

Having first seen Fantasia on VHS (whew- a while ago!) I remember giggling at the Beethoven, but the most serious damage was to the Sorcerer's Apprentice. To this day I cannot hear it without referencing Fantasia with that annoying Disney mouse. tiki

It was years before I discovered what a terrific composer Dukas is- he didn't write a whole lot, but what he published is really quality stuff. Also he taught a number of students who went on to write many canonical works in the French organ repertoire.
