Well, maybe the Brahms. I would not necessarily say it would win, though. The Brahms is in a league above the other pieces listed, but doesn't really approach the level of the Beethoven. That said, it's very hard to think of things that do. In your opinion.  Here we go with this nonsense again.

Well, maybe the Brahms. I would not necessarily say it would win, though. The Brahms is in a league above the other pieces listed, but doesn't really approach the level of the Beethoven. That said, it's very hard to think of things that do. In your opinion. Here we go with this nonsense again. The only reason why this nonsense follows you around is because of the manner in which you express yourself.

That said, it's very hard to think of things that do. In your opinion. I'd listen to the Brahms nine times out of ten. As would I. I wrote a detailed analysis of the Brahms for an Orchestral Literature course in college. I've loved the piece ever since. My initial exposure to the Beethoven was as a kid watching Disney's Fantasia on the big screen. Perhaps that soured it for me.

My initial exposure to the Beethoven was as a kid watching Disney's Fantasia on the big screen. Perhaps that soured it for me. Having first seen Fantasia on VHS (whew- a while ago!) I remember giggling at the Beethoven, but the most serious damage was to the Sorcerer's Apprentice. To this day I cannot hear it without referencing Fantasia with that annoying Disney mouse.  It was years before I discovered what a terrific composer Dukas is- he didn't write a whole lot, but what he published is really quality stuff. Also he taught a number of students who went on to write many canonical works in the French organ repertoire.
