Heck, the bench alone is worth $50 and a key to the city... Where are all these folks wanting an upstanding piano for under $1000? Rick

Is that a Hamilton? Many people consider Hamilton to be upstanding.

Actually, that piano looks more like an Everett studio school cabinet style piano. An elderly couple I knew ,both no longer with us, who lived 10 miles south of South Haven, MI, owned one after their son walked off with dad's Steinway grand. When I played it, I thought it had a muffled tone. At the time, I owned a Hamilton.

Duke, just curious, since the topic is 'upstanding' in its ethical or exemplary connotation, re. the son who took his father's grand piano, did he surpass his elder as a pianist, and did his kids (grandkids of the original owner) learn piano ?

H, this all happened some 40 years ago. The son got a job in Georgia and dad most likely told him: "if you want it take it". Dad was a self-taught pianist, as to his skill, I will say he tried very hard. He also played the organ. He was a man of simple means and minimal formal education, but had a deep appreciation of classical music. I don't know whether the son, now in his 70s, plays or what happened to the Steinway as I have not talked to him since his mom died in 2009.

Poor piano! At least they could have dusted it off properly (it being an upstanding piano) before taking the photo and putting it out there for all the world to see.

Why does the bench look partially – but not completely – dusted?

A good example where 5 minutes with a duster and a bit of polish would make the whole thing look a lot more desirable.

I'd just leave it on the 10; maybe they can use it for the La La Land sequel.
