I am really enjoying the GP-500 but am also tempted by the Pianoteq Grotrian. I am a bit of a caveman when it comes to technology though.

Looking for advice on the simplest way to connect everything up through a Mac and headphones?

You can plug your headphones directly to the Mac soundcard.

Here I prefer to connect the soundcard to the piano (LINE-IN), with a quite hidden cable, and my headphones to the piano. Then I can adjust the volume on my piano (the soundcard is a bit far away). I can also use my piano speakers.

Beware : when linking the PC/Mac and the piano by both USB and audio, you may have ground loop noises. I get rid of it with a plain MIDI link (isolated by MIDI optoisolators), but there are ground loop filters.

Thank you. So if I understand correctly, the simplest would just be a USB cable from the piano to Mac and then headphones into Mac. Is it really that simple or am I missing something?

PMFJI --

It is that simple.

You can complicate it if you want to. But that's the simplest working configuration -- it's where you start. And if it works nicely for you, it's where you stop.

Can I ask how you like the Casio Celviano GP-500?

I tried this "grand hybrid" line at the Casio booth at January's NAMM show in CA, and really like them.

Absolutely love it. I tried all the others I could find in a similar price range (Kawai, Roland) and preferred the GP-500. I certainly don't regret the decision. I find that I play it much more often than my acoustic.
