Today, worked on my part of the duet. Started working parts of a later variation, not too bad, descending chords in triplets, but moves very fast, so will have to be memorized.

My duet partner and I worked to get her yesterday and it was great. Theme and first variation are starting to gel together. Lots of fun.

Started working on an intermediate version of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. It's way above my 'pay grade' but I'm a no guts, no glory kind of person so why not stretch a little. It will probably take a year or so to get it down.

I say, go for it!!! You never know what you are capable of if you don't just do it. If you really love that piece, as I do, you will succeed.

Isabella,

10 weeks without piano?....hope you survive........ grin What kind of consultance? Financial, human resource?

This week I purchased in cheap bookshop 14 musicbooks of Könemann....they are all written in original notes...but much cheaper than, let's say edition Peters or Henle etc. Among others Bach English suites, three Beethovens, Sonatines, Mozart variations, Mozart Fantasys, Rondi etc.

14 books x €6 in stead of 14 x €30 ......mmmmm.....happy whome 3hearts

Best regards,
Johan B

Johan, consulting in the health care field. People at home will have to wear ear plugs, because I will practice from 10 pm to 1130-12 nightly. I don't want my duet partner to fire me!!!

I came across this little beauty today

Schoenberg op 19 no 6 ( from the six little pieces)

Actually it is in the piano handbook I own with detailed notes where I learned about it.

Perhaps not for everyone but I am very drawn to a bit of atonality and that type of music laugh though some go a bit far for my liking in that series but the 6th last one is a little gem for me.

Only half a page. Good test of soft playing dynamics and pedalling and interesting challenges.

There is a link to the sheet as well.

What did you play today ?

Didn't practice as much as I usually do, but here's what I worked on:

Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca

Tarantella by Albert Pieczonka

Schubert's Fantasy in F Minor

Plus, some scales, Hanon and sight reading.

Playing a little piece out of an old grade 1 book called "Who'll Buy My Roses?" I almost have it but there's one bar that always messes me up every time.

I also haven't had any structure from when I started back in November 2015 I think it was with that little Yamaha. I figure now that I have my Casio I can work on all of the grade 1 pieces I have in my collection before moving on. The last couple of years I've been all over the place with the things I chose to learn to play. Now it's time to get some fundamentals so I can really progress.

Sight read, slowly, a couple of Bach preludes, and part of nel cor piu non me sento variations. Must work the duet piece tonight.

Not sure what model it is, but will be picking up a Clavinova today. People who lived in my cousin's rental house didn't want it, so cousin called me. I said yes to the Clavinova. Can practice anytime now!!!

About 5 week to go on the temporary job that I committed to. It's got to end soon!!!
