This is practically my dream gigging keyboard... 15 pounds, 88 Fatar TP/9Piano keys with aftertouch, pitch/mod joysticks, built-in sounds in case my laptop freezes on stage...

Here's hoping it's not too expensive. I hope to hear more information soon.

How does the action compare to the Casio range, just out of curiousity? I reckon Casio have a very good piano feel for the total mass of the instrument.

This is basically a weighted synth action with piano-style keys and a heavier weight at the front of the key, rather than a weighted piano action. So it won't be very similar to the Casio Privia series, which I agree are probably the best fully-weighted keyboards under 30 pounds.

I really like my Novation SL61 MkII controller for electric piano playing, which uses the Fatar TP/9S semi-weighted synth action. The Numa Compact 2 uses the TP/9Piano, which I haven't used but I assume is a little heavier. Hopefully it will feel just a little bit better for grand piano playing.

It'd be nice if Studiologic had any of their gear at GC or Sam Ash or anywhere you could try it out.

Kraft Music offers a 30-day no questions asked return policy which they encourage people to use as a "trial" period. The only downside is that they wouldn't reimburse you for shipping if you decided against keeping it. I might end up doing that for this keyboard, although I live driving distance from Kraft so I can probably avoid the shipping charges.

That looks like a mighty fine unit for the price.

For a non-hammer action, the original Numa Compact was pretty decent for piano. I'll be curious to see how the feel of the action might change due to the presence of aftertouch.

I have the original Numa Compact and I have been reviewing Piano Man Chuck's videos. It is actually something he said that made me rethink considering buying this, and I am so grateful he mentioned key size, which is the same on both models. The white keys are 5 1/2", and the black keys are 3 1/2", And that is too bad because this is something that really bothers me about the original model, and is unchanged on the upgrade. Piano keys are generally a 1/2" longer.

If you are mainly a pianist, I can imagine that the smaller key size is going to not seem right. I have to say the piano itself sounds great although EQ or a mixer is necessary to adjust EQ on original model. Action is not bad at all either on the original.

So, I am back to considering the lightest possible stage type piano for playing jazz. Under 1K. My Kurzweil at 37 pounds is too heavy. It stays home. So, far, considering the Kawai ES110 and the Yamaha P-115 and going to sell the Numa.

Reply to gracegren: Look into the Casio PX-160. Full-size keys and a good grand-piano sound chip. Not great but not bad internal speakers. You can try one out at most Guitar Centers. It weighs a little under 25 lbs; try to lift it and see how you fare. The PX-160 is a better value for its price ($499) by far than Numa, Yamaha or any other of its competitors, in my opinion.

Only drawback: the dinky sustain pedal that comes with the PX-160 sucks. For me the only acceptable sustain pedal is the Roland DP-10 because it has a rubber strip you put your heel on while you play so the pedal does not wander. (But you have to plug in the pedal BEFORE you turn on the piano or it reverses polarity.)

From looking at his signature, it's evident he settled with the ES110. Great choice.
