My teacher asked me to think about trying one of these for my next project. Have any of you played any of the six? Did you like them?

I just read that they were originally composed as ensemble pieces for an odd mix of instruments. They were only arranged for piano solo performance after Mozart's death. Notwithstanding that fact, I gather that they have been assigned routinely as teaching pieces ever since about 1800.

What I wonder: In the available arrangements, do they work well for piano? Or should I move on to a piece actually written for the piano?

As piano pieces go, are these Mozart or Fauxart?

There are versions on youtube:

I have no idea of their history but I find them lovely! If my ability were high enough, I wouldn't hesitate myself to learn one of them. But alas.
Anyone any idea what difficulty they are?

They are arrangements of the Divertimenti K439b. Listen to those and then to recordings of the Sonatine, Katsaris's are the only pro recordings I listened to. It's all on YouTube.

After a quick look at the score I haven't seen anything weird (as in "potentially uncomfortable to play").
I like them and I have an interest in learning them in the future. I believe they're around grade 4 or 5 ABRSM.

These were suggested by my teacher and I think they are great pieces. I didn't know they were arrangements but that makes sense as some of them sound orchestral in concept.

I think they work well for piano. You can't find much more skilled arranger than Mozart himself.

True! But if he had done these arrangements himself, I wouldn't be asking. smile

Oh, didn't he write the transcriptions himself? If not then who did? I did a quick search but there's not much about it online.

What's in a name? They're mature Mozart brilliantly accessible.

I didn't enjoy them. But I know loads of people do. I've learnt a lot more Mozart since and matured rather a good number of decades .... perhaps I'll drag them out tomorrow and give 'em another spin, and let you know. But definitely, first time round, they didn't make sense to me (perhaps I was too young at the time to appreciate).
