I bought my Kawai MP7 over two years ago and has been working beautifully without a hitch up until now.

It started last night when it took a couple of goes of pressing the power switch for it to turn on. I didn't think anything of it at the time, except tonight it's happening again, but progressively worse - now it only turns on less than one in 20 tries of pressing the power switch. It's not a problem with the power connection, because when it finally turns on I have the same trouble turning it off.

I've tried the factory reset but that doesn't help.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any suggestions?

My suggestion is to contact Kawai Support. Your MP7 should still be under warranty.

Hello Dan,

Yes, please give Kawai Australia a call to have this issue checked out.

Best of luck.

Kind regards,
James

Just an update,

I contacted Kawai Australia (it took me a while to do so as I was busy with a new-born), and they promptly responded and sent someone out to fix the problem (was a broken connection which the technician fixed with solder).

Overall very pleased with the customer service provided by Kawai.

Good to hear that the problem is fixed, but damn... Why does every country seem to have people who come to your house to fix stuff, while in the Netherlands, we have to send a piano to Germany?

One of the keys in my MP7 broke (side-to-side play), and the entire stage piano had to be sent to Kawai. It took a month getting there and back again. Fortunately the dealer handled this affair.

I wonder what would happen if I ever have to call support for my LX-17? Disassemble it and send it to Roland? Getting the console part up these steep stairs here was precarious at best.

Thanks for the update, Dan.

Glad to hear that it was a straightforward fix.
