Please add me for 2017, however, I did already miss a day yesterday LOL! I had lots of company over and I meant to practice when the children went to bed, but totally forgot and fell asleep! :|

I have been waiting for this thread to show up. Wasn't able to log on Jan. 1st or 2nd, but I am here now. I actually have played every day since getting my new digital around mid-December. I love the piano. I tried MOYD back in 2013, but within two months of buying my then new Casio PX-350 Grandma's cats destroyed it by "marking their territory" right on top of the keyboard. Did Grandma offer to replace it? No! I had to make payments on that sucker until 2014. Since all the cats are dead now (don't look at me like that it was old age, and that's my story and I am sticking to it) I knew I had to replace it and get back at learning to tickle the ivory. Sign me up please!

I'm aiming for another year of keeping on track!
Even looking back and seeing all the breaks is neat. It is also great to realize the progress that's made when I have been away from the keys from time to time.
2017 will be a year of solidifying pieces for me I hope!

I'd like to join in. Consistency is a problem for me -- and I had already decided to keep better practise notes. This will help keep me accountable!

So far so good for 2017. smile

Hi guys,

Really new here but enjoying a lot the forum. I am on over 40 adult piano student. Life is busy, but I do need to get more consistent as well.

I do travel a lot for personal and professional reason, but I will try to get daily time on the piano for 2017.

Let's see...

thanks for this

Can't believe I did it this quick, but I fell off the wagon yesterday. I have a sleeping disorder and was tired all day and fell asleep around 5:00pm planning to play later, but my planned fifteen min. nap turned in to sleeping until 3:00am this morning. I am back on the wagon though as I have spent about 3 hours with Piano for All. I had been neglecting PFA in favor of learning some basic Christmas tunes. Since Christmas is now over I am back on PFA. Please put me in the "Back on the Wagon" list.

I'd love to join in this year! I think I was too shy to join in for last years even though I was a month before the Sept. cutoff, so I'm forcing myself to go this year!

I'm looking forward to trying to be more active on these forums instead of just lurking, all the advice here is amazing!

I have a question on the rules. I now have an IPad that has apps for music theory, sight reading, and ear training. Do those count as practice? If so I could continue to practice when traveling even though I don't have a keyboard available.

After you travel, you can come back and just say those days you were out of town. You'll be put on the excused list (according to the first post). People have lives, and there will be times that you can't play smile

Finfan - as bSharp[C]yclist said, you need to actually be sitting at a piano for it to count as MOYD. Travel days are excused days, which a keep a list of in the first post of the thread for everyone. It is expected that people will have days traveling or sick when they cannot play.

ThePawn - I will put you Back on the Wagon today. I hope your workload lightens up!

Please add me in for 2017. I must admit it's not going to be easy this year. I've got so much to do and to learn but piano is still the highlight of the day smile

I need to be excused for Jan. 8-14. I was visiting my mother and had no piano for practice. Had there been a piano, you can be sure my mom would have been all over me to practice. smile

Hi, although I'm late in replying to this thread, I've been MOYD every day of 2017 thus far (although will have to ask for a few excused days shortly)

Thanks!

Hi,

Please add me for 2017. I was happy with how this worked out in 2016. I missed the last few days of 2016 and the first few days of 2017 due to travel - however I did get to briefly play in a recently opened piano store in my home town, as well as on an unexpectedly nice piano at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.

Thank you,

Jeff

Aloha! Missed one day (January 15)on the return from a wonderful vacation to Kailua Kona, Hawaii. We rented a weighted digital yamaha for a week and when the others were sleeping early in the morning, I was watching the dark turn to light and playing the piano. The full moon on the ocean at 4 AM is amazing.

WiseBuff -Ah, sunrise playing in Hawaii...that sounds pretty wonderful! I rented a weighted digital when I first visited Spain last spring as well. It worked out well!

I missed reporting out for Wednesday 18th Jan. Not that I really minded - we went to hear Emanuel Ax at the VSO playing Beethoven's Emperor! What a treat! I got in a bit of practice before we left and when we got back so it was only one day. Facing a much bigger absence next week which I'll report in for as soon as plans are finalized.
