Makes it easy to figure the circle of fifths etc… when composing. Or 7th’s, or other chords….
and additionally know quickly if Major or minor by using the smallest interval to start (with).

I.E.
In the key of G major that would be a minor 2nd from G, it’s inversion a major 2nd7th. wink blush
Both F#
Tonic -Chord I, and G major 7th in the example.
