I can't seem to find any info about this piano--there is a lot regarding the 174, but the owner sent me the receipt and the catalog from that year that shows this piano came in three sizes: 5'1", 5'10", and 6'10".

Looking for feedback on what I should expect to pay for this piano from the original owner. It has been very lightly played and not tuned or played for the last few years apparently. I will see it tomorrow. The seller is asking 20k but said he is negotiable.

I did check the serial number and it matches to the year of purchase (1990 at Colton Pianos in San Jose, CA) he stated.

Anyone know anything about this model? Trying to get info before I check it out.

If I knew how to attach pics here I would attach the catalog pic..

Hi nillabean,

No reason to attach a catalogue pic. here.

You should know that the Schimmel model numbers then were simply the size of the piano in centimeters, so the 5'1" was the 150, the 5'10" was the 174, and so on.

I do not know of there ever being a 176. I would double check that model. I believe you are looking at a 174, which was a very nicely built piano.

I hope that helps,

I bought my 5'10" T (174T) Schimmel in 1988. The catalogue of available Schimmels that I got at the time of my purchase does not include a 176. It sounds like the seller made a typo and meant "174".
