Looks like someone in The White House plays the piano, but the picture isn't high-resolution enough to read what the music is.

So the Steinway in the picture is not the Eagle Steinway. Perhaps it actually belongs to the Obamas?

Could be. Truman brought his own piano, he was a Baldwin guy. Nixon played, not sure what. I think I remember seeing a photo of Eisenhower at an upright, but haven't been able to find it again.

Here's a picture of Eisenhower's piano, although he's not at it. Who was complaining on here recently about people who pile things on top of their piano? I may have actually seen this piano a long time ago.

There's lots of pictures on Google of Truman and Nixon playing the piano. Here's Nixon playing The Eagle for a friend.

And Truman...

Too funny....Thank you for posting it. I think that may have been me. I said I cringe when I see people put anything on their piano besides music. It looks like Eisenhower only used piano as a piece of furniture and for their pictures. They don't even have a piano bench near the piano.

It does not even look like piano music that's on the desk. I see only 1 clef and a lot of space between the lines. Maybe it's a flute piece, or maybe something to sing (which would explain the space between the lines)

The music could be something the photographer put there just to prep the room.

I found an earlier discussion about this piano. It appears that these exclusive first-ever photos (according to Architectural Digest) weren't so exclusive, as there have been photos of this same room and piano released before. People were speculating that it was a Baldwin, but now we know better.

Could it be a lead sheet? The resolution isn't good enough to tell if there are chords in alphanumeric form or not.

Is it in the foreground of the picture alongside the treble side near the back? The picture may have been shot with a short focal length lens.
