Today I went back to the store to play the C. Bechstein from 1987 again. I am still very pleased by it, but not sure yet if it is the One. I went with my 8 year old daughter who is saving her pocketmoney so we can buy the grand piano together. We had a great time together. I also played some C. Bechsteins from around 1880. One of them very nice. I played the Estonia again. Bechstein academy I ruled out already and although I really like the Estonia it's not the one for me. So far for my topic title! I had the opportunity to play a brand-new Steinway, Steingraeber and Bosendorfer. Lucky me!!!!! I never played a Steinway before and I was very pleased by this one. Way out of reach but I like to play as many different types I can in my search for the One. The Bosendorfer I played had a much easier touch than one I played before. I am going to play a Bosendorfer 170 soon, from the 70's. This one is sold by a tech, so hopefully in good shape. I read some thongs about PTD lately. Anyone familiar with it? Is that something to consider when the action in the Bosendorfer turns out a bit heavy?

The A170. I think it had a heavy touch. I had a nice sound but I liked both the Bosendorfer and the Steinway better. While those two are very different, I liked them both.

I only played the smaller models, because those are the ones that would fit in my house. 190cm would be the absolute maximum, but preferably a bit smaller than that

My niece has a Sauter Omega (220 cm), which has a wonderful tone and touch. Other Forum members have praised the Delta and Alpha models as well.

I didn't think of Sauter, but after your recommendation I played a delta, which I liked but not loved. On my search I played a lot of different grands again, among others occasion C. Bechstein, Steinway, Seiler, Sauter, Schimmel, Fazioli, Yamaha. And Bosendorfer. And I fell in love with the Bosendorfer 170 I mentioned before. I played it today. And it felt immediately like the One! It looks like it is in a good condition. The price is very good. I am going to bring my tech to check it out. If he thinks it's in good shape I will buy it. I am so excited!

I hope the inspection is a success. It sounds as though your search might be almost over.

I have an update for you. I went back with my technician. I still loved the Bosendorfer and so did the technician! I am so happy. Transportation is being arranged and in the next couple of weeks I will be the proud owner of a Bosendorfer 170! Thank you all so much for your advice

I am absolutely thrilled for you! I have been in love with my Bösendorfer 170 since the day I got it! If you ever get to Vienna you should stop and meet some of the wonderful people at Bösendorfer. They are amazing. All the best to you! Please keep us updated. Steve Bösendorfer 170
