Yesterday, Charles Osgood hosted the CBS "Sunday Morning" show for the last time after a run of more than 20 years. Among the various tributes and recollections was a piece about his musical talents as a pianist and banjo player. During one segment, it was mentioned that he is the owner of three Steinway grands.

One of these, currently located in his home in southern France, is a Model D that formerly belonged to CBS records. Apparently, this piano was used by Glenn Gould to record the Goldberg Variations, by Frank Sinatra, and by Mitch Miller, among many others.

Just before the end of the show, Charlie played and sang "So long it's been good to know you" along with a string quintet from the Boston Pops. A quick glance of the fallboard during his playing showed this to be a Baldwin piano, probably from the 80s (judging from the logo style). I first thought this to be an SF-10 but, in viewing a youtube this morning, it is more likely either an R or L.
