Next week I should get, finally, to unpack the big piano. I have certainly been waiting a long time to be able to say that.

Also next week I should be able to collect my husky puppy.

I am led to believe that huskies are great singers. What note or chord is best to make a dog howl? I remember there was one on the organ at home when I was a boy which never failed.

This would make a fascinating experiment in dog perception:

a) Does the husky have perfect pitch -- can he/she distinguish between (say) c# and d ?

b) Does the husky have a humanoid sense of harmony -- for example, a C major chord does not evoke howling, but a "C dim 9/11" chord makes the pup scream?

I saw a husky in a music store once, who had been trained to howl on command. Master sits down, plays a few chords, looks at the dog and says "Sing!" --

. . . "OOOOOWWWWWWWAAAAAAAOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH"

I've met dogs able to match pitch. Try the key of D major/ B mimor.

If you want to have some fun, go to YouTube.com, and search for "singing husky".

One of my labs likes to sing along with min7 and dim7's. He also loves rolled chords and most Debussy and Ravel. πŸŽΆπŸŽΉπŸ•πŸ˜Ž

Get Bob Dylan to play his harmonica. That works for our Labs.

One of my friend's dogs yodels to 'The Dingo Ate My Baby'.... purely spontaneous, but hysterical laugh

We had degus. They look like squirrels with electrocuted tails. I thought something was wrong with E5 on the piano - one of the little mites was sitting on its haunches singing to every E in Fuer Elise.

Our last ever baby canary went to the owner of a pet food store and lived in the store. She called him McNeil because he loved Rita McNeil's music the best, and would sing up a storm. Cats, on the other hand, seem to be terrified of violins and sopranos.
