What I worked on today:
At my last lesson, my teacher taped my playing. Today, I have been playing the audio to actually hear the measures/sections that I thought were 'good to go' but actually needed some spiffing up and working on those parts.

My tip: record yourself so you better know how you actually sound and what needs the concentrated practice. I have just gotten lazy about taping my own practice... I need to get over that as it really is a big help.

Good advice and so true. I'm working on the last piece of the Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet Suite for the Russian recital. I think it sounds pretty good until I record it. This is what I found: uneven tempo, notes accented that should not be accented, not bringing out the top note melody, limp dynamics, and more. Recording is not a substitute for a teacher, but I think it provides valuable feedback that can fill in the gaps between lessons.

Hi there,

This week I was lurking around in a music-library and found Sieben Sonaten of Johann Joseph Fux for organ/cembalo. I took the book to scan but it didn't work.....I went to an employee and asked why I could not lend this book, .....sorry sir....we have this book not for lend anymore, we'll put to the carbage.......or do you want it for present.....
The book was hardly used and it's mine yet.....

Very nice baroque music 3hearts..... just for free grin grin
Present.....

Best regards,
Johan B

Yesterday did my weekly summer organ playing at the organ of the St.Willibrorduschurch in Kloosterburen (North of the Netherlands)......

Did a little experiment by playing Mozart at the organ......The Wiener Sonatinen....made the pedal-part by myself.......originally written for three basset horns,.....sounded very nice at this organ from the romantic period.....the audience was enthusiastic.....

Wiener Sonatinen, Mozart

Mozart and organ....not heard very often...

Best regards,
Johan B

13 and 14 August

Very naughty, spent most of the weekend playing piano apart from a long wonderous swim in the sea.

Mozart K309 Rondeau
Beethoven Pathetique Mvmts 1 and 2
Liszt Consolation No 4.
Schumann Album for the Young Untitled (No 30 I think)
Lots and lots and lots and lots of scales!
Elton John - Sorry seems to be the hardest word (just for something different!)
Chopin Prelude in E Minor (Op.68 No. 4)

Johan, I love Album for the young. And thanks for the Pachelbel tip, I have downloaded and will give these a go next weekend.

Have a great week!
Cathryn.

The composer is Alberto Nepomuceno, a brazilian composer of the early 20th century. The piece is called "Melodia". It is part a of set of pieces for left hand "5 Peças para Piano escritas para mão esquerda só".

This book is part of a complete serie 'The complete pianoplayer'. There are among others books about Latin and Blues etc. I ordered the whole serie at a musiclibrary. In that way I can see what is worth to buy.

Johan B
