Hello All,
I've tried searching these forums (and scouring the internet!) for answers, but to no avail.

My wife and I recently picked up an older piano, and I'd like to try and find out more info... at least the year. I find that stuff interesting.

I believe it's a spinet, as it's fairly small (36 inches tall... were any consoles made that small?). It is a Wegman, and the serial number is 142975.
The piano looks like it was built in the late 40s or perhaps the 50s to me... but again, I cannot be sure. It does have veneer, which I understand was phased out later in piano development.

From what I gather, the Estey piano company purchased Wegman at some point, and manufactured pianos under the Wegman name. That's about all I've got though.

Any more info or ideas on where to look would be great!

Thanks so much.

1948 spinet piano. Likely made in Indiana.
Most all pianos use veneered cabinet panels. Still do. Few, if any, ever solid wood.
Working mans piano like a Wurlitzer or Lester. They made lots.

I have Wegman Cabinet Grand that I am currently restoring. Inside it says tuning pin fastening patented June 15 1886 Nov. 11 1902. All of the info we currently have is that it is worth 65k after total restoration. It is also pretty pricy to tune due to not having a pinblock. I am very happy to own this piano and with its work done now it sounds like a bosendorfer grand. If anybody knows the time this piano was built please reply. Serial(16431)

If you ever get an offer of $65,000 for the piano, take it. It would be the best deal you will ever make.

Where on earth did you get that info??
(I mean, I'm happy that you're happy with your piano, but that valuation is crazy talk...)

I can think of no reason it should cost more to tune a Wegman. In my opinon, they had the most practical of the machine blocks. Rust might make things difficult, but then it always does.
