It seemed today that my fingers were cross on my hands......so I decided to play a serie of progressive Sonatines of Jan Krittel Vanhal and Georg Anton Benda. I use them more when I have a bad piano-day to recover..... grin grin
Sonatinen II

Some of them are also available at IMSLP
Vanhal
Benda

Decided last week to try and get back some pieces I learned 20 plus years ago. Focus now on Beethoven Op. 14, No 2. Months ago when I tried this it was a complete disaster. In my mind it was gone. Retrying and having more success. Separating problem areas with focused practice, trying to be more analytical about it. Maybe I will awaken the part of my brain that has my old music in storage. One can hope.

haha, good one

yes, the first time I listened to Fields nocturnes, I finally discovered Chopin's inspiration. Liszt wrote about them.

vodka is a vital necessity in those cold regions smile

It's just after midnight here and I just had a short practice, about 40 minutes. Worked on Beethoven op14 no 2. It really isn't too hard a piece of music. Focusing on keeping the Alberti bass quiet in the middle. I had an Ah Ha moment, while doing so. I've always felt a strain on the left hand for much of the Alberti bass and realized tonight that I have been playing the broken chords on the white keys deep into the black keys. Why? I don't know. Started backing my hand up when only on the white keys and moving into the black keys when needed. What a difference!!! Prior to this I was often losing the middle note or hitting part of a black key when playing the white, or the sounds of the notes as played was just not good, sort of loud on the bass note, barely sound on the middle and slightly loud on the top note of the Alberti, just a mess I couldn't seem to be able to control. I can't wait to get started tomorrow.

Oh, and the left hand was so very relaxed and comfortable. There was always tension in the fourth and fifth finger.

Thought I'd post this just in case anyone else noticed this problem, but thought it was just the way it was. I'm so stoked to get started in the am. Thanks.

Johan B, did you buy cut roses or are you planting roses. Years ago we had 30+ rose bushes in the ground and in pots in our yard, plus a climbing rose that covered part of the roof with red roses. Now I have 1 rose bush in a pot.

Johann that is so sweet!!! Yellow roses was my dad's favorite. I prefer the big cabbage roses or antique roses. Those roses are featured in artwork by Fantin LaTour. Check him out, beautiful!!!

I have a small bush of wild roses at the back of the house.
Easy to look after!
And I've put loads of seeds from other wild rose plants in the ground around it, and all seeds don't germinate.
It takes a long time for them to grow up, though.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.
You can spend the rest of your life looking for music on a sheet of paper. You'll never find it, because it just ain't there. - Me Myself
