I've been working on St. James Infirmary. It's such a cool song.

I found 692 different versions of that same song on Spotify and put them in a playlist if anyone would like to listen:

It's interesting seeing how different performers put their own spin on it.

I find it rather strange to call "St. James Infirmary" a "cool" song. The text is all about death, disease, infirmity and funeral. The only cool, resp. cold thing in this song is the "baby's" corpse "streched out on a long white table". Getting a kick out of that seems insane to me.

By "cool" I mean I like the song. It's interesting. I'm not implying that I like death and sadness. I like the song itself. If liking a song like this is strange and insane, then I am most certainly both. It is possible to like a song and think it is good (in terms of quality) without being a proponent of its literal lyrical meaning.

There is no infant (baby) in the song. "I saw my baby there" is indicating a partner (lover/girlfriend/significant other).
