I had decided on the FP-30, but is it worth paying extra for the FP-50? What extras do you get?

The FP50 has extra sounds, a LCD display, can record directly a WAV file on a USB key. But it has a previous generation keyboard (Ivory feel G instead of the PHA4 standard).

A useful posting, though a bit late for me since I bought my FP50 before the 30 came out. Since I havent tried this latest offering (the shops only down the road), I can only surmise that the extra connections on the 50, line in and out, audio in, etc, plus all the tweaking stuff, bells and whistles may be worth the additional 100% youd have to pay for it; but only if you use them.
I cant think of any reason to pay that money if the basic sounds the same. And if the keyboards a good un, well, . .what else can I say? (Shrug). . . I use few of the additional features. Spunds like a bargain at the price!

Also let's not forget that the F-30 weights around two kilograms less than than the F-50...

It's depend how the keyboard action is important for you. For me very much, cause I choose FP30 but I'm using piano home only. If you are gigging FP50 maybe better solution by the line out.

Is the FP30 like playing on a "real" piano?
That is by far the most important thing for me.

FP30 action is much better than FP50 but still not like the real. You can't find real touch in this price, to be honest. Even highest models of Kawai are still not real but very close.

Didnt think fp50 was much different from either fp80 (which was too noisy) ir the CN 35 which I tried also at the same time. But that on the RD300NX was freer than the others. It was also a used model.

That is by far the most important thing for me. no, only a real piano plays like a real piano of course, try to sort out which out of steinway, bechstein, baldwin, bosendorfer, petrof or others have the real piano action and tone

What is the best digital piano within this price range or just above? Which price range are you referring to specifically? The FP-30 and FP-50 are priced differently. Kind regards, James x

Everything is depend how you'll be using the piano? Home playing or gigging? Home - FP30, Gig - FP50.

At that price, the FP-30/FP-50, ES100, PX-160, and P115 are all good buys. However, expand your budget a little and the far better ES8 becomes an option. Cheers, James x
