Was wondering if someone could send me the sheet music for this piece. I looked all over and can't seem to find it. Thanks.

You can order it on line from sheetmusicplus.com or burtnco.com or directly from the publisher peermusic.com. It looks like there is a version for piano & orchestra and a solo version.

On each site you'll have to search for Ponce Balada Mexicana.

Manuel Maria Ponce's Balada Mexicana is one of my favorite pieces of music.

Ponce combined French Impressionism and Mexican folk melodies with the Romantic exuberance of Liszt.

Does anyone know if the Peermusic edition is a new edition or a reprint of the old one?

Is Ponce's piano solo version of Guateque available anywhere?

As far as I know, it's not.

Even the British Library doesn't have it.

Thanks a million, Ponce2008.

You may have the rarest score on earth.

Guateque is an absolute delight.

You don't happen to have Ponce's Estudio de concierto No.8 Preludio galante, do you?

Or Estudio de concierto No.12 La vida sonríe?

I do have La vida sonríe as well as the Galante listed on my inventory (I have tons of sheet music) but I can't readily find it. I think it's probably located at another house where I store some older stuff. As soon as I get a chance I will travel there and search for it.

I do have many other Ponce scores, such as Suite Cubana, and some are very rare. I've been collecting them over the years as a personal "quest." I once found a few pieces in some very old books.

Wow!!! I can't believe it's been 4 years since I made the request for the ballade. I'm glad to see others interested in Ponce's music. it's truly gorgeous is it not?

Since then I have performed the ballade at least 8 times, all to enthusiastic applause...even a standing ovation or two laugh

True, Thanks Bruce.

Unfortunately though, there is still a lot of his works that are very difficult to find including his etudes and his piano concerto just to name a few. Still looking for that dang piano concerto....

Piano concertos may only be available on rental. Ask the publisher. Hinson's catalog book of concertos might have information. Unfortunately, I have not unpacked my copy yet.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could look that up if you get the chance. My old college professor also has it so I'll ask her too.

Thanks

Cheeto

I have the full score manuscript of the Piano Concerto; it's fairly easy to read.

Several of the Concert Etudes (Estudios de concierto) have been lost, but Nos. 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 12 are available. Most have been out of print for years, so private sharing under 'fair use' is probably fine.

There is a wonderful new Clema Ponce Special Edition of the Balada Mexicana with Preface, Errata, and Revisions by Paolo Mello. It, too seems out of print, but there are many libraries that have copies. Use worldcat.org to find a library near you or one that will do inter-library loans.

Is the concerto in digital form? I'd love to have it even if it's the full score. I've been looking for it since the time I made this thread in 2008!!! But only if it'd be easy for you.

Thanks

Cheeto

The file is marked [Keep Private], so I will have to ask the pianist who sent it to me. If you PM me your email, I'll send it to him with your request.

Do you have this thesis?

Manuel M. Ponce: A critical study of his Concierto Romántico for piano and orchestra by Carlos Balam Vázquez

Balada Mexicana is included in a fine (pricey) folio of 18 Manuel Ponce pieces published in Japan by Zen-On, editor and pianist Yukio Miyazaki; it also includes a CD.
