Hi All

I am hoping to obtain some advice in regards to determining the age and value of my piano. Brand from what I can tell is R. Weiler. Other details I have found written on the piano is number '9495 & 9527'.

The piano is over 100 years old. I believe has ivory keys.

Dimensions are:
Height: 131cms
Width: 144cms
Depth: 61cms (total)
Depth: 31cm (just upstand component)

I have numerous photos that I can email people to view as I am clueless in how to upload photos on here.

Please contact me if you think you are able to help.

I look forward to your responses.

My email address is: kerriewilmore@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance

Kerrie

If you mean sale value, then zero or probably negative if you don't want it and have to pay someone to take it away. Pianos degrade as musical instruments over time and cost of restoration to useful player condition is high versus resale value. Very few pianos, very very few, have antique value. Some people like old pianos but few will pay good money for one.

If it has sentimental value to your family, that is a different thing.

Currently playing 2017 C212 with carbon fibre soundboard, WNG action. Working on Bach, Beethoven, Grieg mainly.

There were lots of small makers in Austria and Germany, mostly gone now. Mathushek was a long-time manufacturer in the US, and this looks like a variant of that name, possibly a relative. The Piano Atlas lists a Matousekek or Mathauschek in Vienna which could be misspellings. In any case, there is little chance that you will find more information without an enormous amount of work.
