My Clavinova has developed a problem, a sound like static hiss is present when I select accompaniment or if an instrument like "organ" is selected and the Clavinova automatically selects "effect". I have tried the factory reset and cleaning several contacts (plugs) inside the Clavinova. If I deselect "effect" then the Clavinova works OK as an organ or a piano as long as "accompaniment" or "effect" not selected. Can somebody please give me a clue what to look for next. Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi Climbingmrb,

I'm not familiar with CVP pianos, but it definitely sounds like an electronic failure of the effects circuitry. For example, in case the effects in your CVP are connected with the digital sound generator source through audio (analogue) signal wires, the hiss might be a hint that some audio chain component (say a capacitor) has gone bad in the effects board.

One question: can you confirm that the effects functionality is still working, despite the hiss? To check that, you could try to edit some preset to increase or decrease the effects send level. In case you get no effects at all, you might have a more serious failure of the effects circuit.

Ciao,
Paolo
