Does anyone have any recommendations for a good skype instructor for an intermediate -grade 7/8 level RCM - adult student? After many years of no formal lessons I would like to get back to some formal instruction. I live in Alberta, Canada but in a small community where there is no available piano teacher for more advanced training. Anyone have any luck with a piano teacher through skype or particular teacher recommendations? Thanks (I am particularly interested in playing Chopin - so far just "winging" it on my own.)

Another fantastic teacher you can check out is Hugh Sung:

Josh Wright - one of the best teachers I've ever studied with (I've had many). A wonderful pianist and superb teacher, incredibly generous with his knowledge. He has an uncanny ability to zero in on what it is that will elevate your playing. Can't recommend him highly enough.

He does not seem to offer Skype lessons, as the OP inquired about.

This is a Skype option that I would highly recommend.

I believe he would be a perfect match for you.

That's the girl who was promoting her web site here a while back.

You can see her videos on youtube.

Listen, she might be a competent teacher. But you could never tell from those videos.

Josh wright is an exceptional player. Here's his preliminary round recital at the 2015 Chopin Warsaw competition:

I had a chance to correspond with after that round, and he is very personable and approachable. If you contact him through his website, I'm sure he would arrange something.

I do think he does Skype lessons. I met a young man at a local Chopin competition and he said he takes lessons via Skype from Josh Wright. He also won the senior level.

Yes - he does give Skype lessons - I know because I've been studying with him for the last year and a half via Skype. Here's a link to his contact page where you can write to him to arrange an audition:

(Sorry, don't know why external link is not showing up as link)

Thanks all. I actually bought one of Josh Wright's lessons. You can purchase individual lessons for particular pieces of music, eg. Chopin's Revolutionary Etude. Which is great because then you can watch it again and again and he breaks it down. Seems like a nicely done lesson for nominal fee. I appreciate the response as I live in a town without a suitable instructor, and being a teacher myself I am not overly tolerant of bad teaching style. Josh seems to be able to explain clearly and I like his videos so far.
