Totally! But making sure I do the tiniest amount rather than none at all has a value when it comes to the *next* day for me. If I had fallen off the wagon (forgivably) when I was very tired, then it would have been so much easier to make excuses to not practice the next day.

That is exactly what has happened this week with another daily habit I try to follow. A busy week, a few days missed, and now it is that much harder to get myself back into the routine!

I need MOYD in more areas of my life smile

PatrickBI - I am adding Feb 16th to the excused days, or was this an off the wagon day?

Finfan - I have your Feb 21-27 as excused. Have a good trip!

I will be unable to play Feb 21 and 22.Travelling down for very intense legal conference - it's with the Wine Institute lol ! I'll get some time in before leaving and once returned but staying with relatives on the way down, and tight schedule the day of, means too much hassle to bring DP with me this time.

However, the thoughts of falling off the MOYD wagon provided enough motivation to sit down at the bench.

The confession though is that this was definitely in keeping with the letter of the law, rather than the spirit of the law! A quick run through a couple of scales and I was off to my bed :-)

I'm in complete sympathy with you on this. I had a very similar issue yesterday. I had a crazy day at work that started with me driving one of our parent volunteers to the ER and ended with me trying to get 22 6 year olds to sit for a computerized reading test. With the headache I had when I got home, all I wanted to do was sit. But after a cuppa tea and a little rest I was able to sit and play for a few minutes. Like you, very much a letter of the law kind of day, but glad I did it!

I have to report that I've been on holidays Feb 13-19. No piano there.

Bad news is that I broke my left thumb skiing and I've been diagnosed 20 days before it recovers. What I would like to know is: am I considered excused or I have to stick to MOYD whit my right hand only? Today I've some practice with it, but I'm not sure I will everyday...

I'm sorry to say I missed Feb 20 and 21. Away from home for a racing weekend and did not have time to even look for a piano in the hotel. Then did not get home till late and exhausted.

Hi,

I'm sorry but I need to withdraw from MOYD. I have rheumatoid arthritis and it's done a number on my wrists and fingers. Some days I can practice and other days I can't. I do intend to continue with piano but I can't say it will be close to daily. Fortunately I'm just an old guy plodding along for my own satisfaction, so I'm not in a big hurry. I have to say that when my hands did cooperate MOYD has been a great motivator. Thanks for all you do.

I will be at a week long art workshop next week. Including travel time: February 27 through March 8. I've been there several years in a row now, and I know that there is no piano available. In fact, the last night of classes, when we have our "gallery night" and show off our work, they bring in a musician who brings his own keyboard for entertainment.

Palmpirate - Hope you enjoyed the wine conference. I have your Feb 21-22 dates.

torquenale - Ouch!!!! I would say your are excused until you heal. If you want to play with one hand, more power to you, but I think a broken thumb is an excused absence. I hope you heal soon!

Bsw - I have your excused dates - Feb 20-21.

Marvelle - I am sorry to hear about the arthritis. You definitely need to listen to your body. Play when you can! Mothion is lotion they say.

Mom3gram - Have a fun workshop! I have your dates as Feb 27-Mar 8.

Marvelle, sorry to hear your arthritis got the better of you. I am expecting that to affect my playing in the long run. I asked PW for advice and had lots of suggestions regarding gloves. I now have several pairs of different 'strengths' and swear by them. Sometimes I don't need them but they really help when I do. Isn't just being able to play through a few favorites a joy! I hope you have many hours more even if it isn't everyday.

Thanks SwissMS for the kind words and the marvelous job you do with MOYD. And thank you Palmpirate. I'll check into the posts on gloves and will try them out. My rheumatologist told me they're worth a shot. I hope you too keep on keepin' on.

SwissMS, thanks! For the moment I'm sticking to 5-10 minutes of right hand practice. Not much fun, to tell the truth.
I'll let you know when I skip a day, so you can update the excused list.

Marvelle, I'm really sorry for your arthritis... I hope you can recover a bit and not be too much affected in your piano playing.

Requesting excused absence for Feb 23-27, both inclusive; biz trip to NYC and Zurich with no free time to play the 37-key midi controller I took (or to do anything else!). Looking forward to playing today!
