I don't yet own a P255 but am likely to buy one. The speakers it's been outfitted with seem like they would be adequate for smaller, more intimate situations. I bought a Yamaha NP31 for travelling on occasional road trips - to play in a motel room. The case I bought for it is a poor fit even though it was the (supposedly) recommended NP31 case.

Seems like with the P255 becoming the popular hit I expect it will be, that Yamaha would have a closely fitting case.

So, to repeat my original question: Is there a closely fitting case for the P255 ?

Dave, you can have a case made to your specifications.

I had a case made years ago for my then P250. The P250 was a big slab with built in speakers. I use that same case for my CP5 which is considerably smaller. I just use spacers to take up the difference.

My point? You can probably buy a case made specifically for the P255. When you eventually sell that and buy a new keyboard, your new keyboard may be too large for the case.

The case I had made for my P250 will serve me for all future keyboards. Just a thought.

The dimensions of the P255 are almost identical to the P155 which has been around for a while. The only difference is that the 255 is a quarter inch thicker. Look at cases designed for the P155.

Hard case, or soft case?

If soft, I have had good luck with Gator cases. I'm sure one of them will fit the P255. A phone call or email to Gator will tell you which one.

I've had good luck with a soft case that holds a Yamaha P90. It has the company name "Yamaha" stitched on the case and has 2 wheels on one end. And with the P255 weighing 38 pounds, I'd hate to be lugging it around in a hard case.

I'm thinking I'm likely to buy a CP4 for gigging "out". Getting a P255 for smaller situations AND as a backup keyboard for the CP4. Right now I've had (for maybe 10 years) a Yamaha P90.

I had a gig Saturday and my Barbetta keyboard amp was acting up. I ended up running out and buying a Yamaha DBR12. I'm impressed that it doesn't have a noticeable hiss the way some JBL (Eon models) had in the past. I will probably buy a second DBR12 and I'll have a simple PA.

The speakers on the P255 are loud enough for a small venue but they don't put out the excellent bass that the kb has. I would recommend getting an external amp to improve the sound. I use a logitech z623 which is quite good and inexpensive but isn't very portable (no handles). I used to use a roland kc100 for gigs which wasn't too bad to lug (had a handle).

BTW, I am loving my P255. It's the first DP I've had that is a joy to play. And here's a link to a YouTube vid that shows off the very nice bass of the P255. He recorded directly into the USB stick.

I have this for my p255. Best case I've ever bought. Lightweight (less than 10lbs) excellent build quality, has wheels. Expensive, but won't fall apart.
