i'm a violin student, planning to start taking piano lessons for RCM performer's ARCT.

i'm living in toronto and have trouble finding used piano ads/dealer.

yesterday i went to a pearl river dealer in richmond hill, and they had the UP125M1 for CDN $4000+tax ($4600)...... but i could buy it in china for $2000 tops..... -_-

(last month i saw an ad of a yamaha U1, 4 months, still has 9.67 years of warranty, $3800 CDN.. but i hesitated, and it was gone....)

i'm now looking for a piano that is less than 20 yrs old, under $3500 CDN, 45" or taller, preferrably japanese.....

could anybody please suggest where i can buy this kind of piano? newpaper classifieds? websites? any reputable dealers?

any good models? (i only know yamaha U1 and kawai bl51 frown )

thanks a lot!!

You might check with an excellent dealer in Toronto called Robert Lowery's Quality Pianos. They may have some used pianos as trade -ins, or could steer you n the right direction. Good Luck

I don't know what you saw but rest assured you did not see a Yamaha U1 4 months old for Can $ 3,800.

Every dealer in North America would have bought it right over the phone.....

Check your local yellow pages.

You'll get tons of dealers selling pianos in your price range - no problemo!

Good luck!

Remenyi House of Music on Bloor Street has an excellent reputation.

Remenyi and Robert Lowrey sell more high end pianos (as you can expect from a steinway and boesendorfer/fazioli dealer) as well as nordeimer (chinese) from remenyi. You should try Yamaha Music Gallery in Thornhill, and Piano and Art Gallery in Richmond Hill. Also, there is a pianoshop that sells used pianos listed in the classifieds of the Toronto Star (this was 1 year ago, but I think they still advertise). Call them and see.
P.S. I got a Yamaha GA1E from Yamaha Music gallery when I was living in Toronto a year ago. They are extremely price-competitive IMO.

Btw, I'm familiar with the Pearl River dealer also (it is the one in the Times Square area right?) since my teacher was there. I think they are really overpriced...they had two pretty old Steinway consoles on consignment for $10000 when I went there.

Don't forget to check the free online ads at www.kijiji.ca
And don't just limit yourself to Yamaha and Kawai simply because those are the only names you know.
Read the online version of Piano Buyer that you can find by clicking on their ad found on this page somewhere.
