I found used Kawai K3 (2006), but the soft fall system is inoperative. Do you recommend to take a technician to check it, or is this a "junk" piano?

Thank you for your help.

Replacement parts for the soft fall system are available. I would be surprised if they were expensive or difficult to replace. If it failed under normal use, it would still be covered under warranty (just barely).

The soft fall mechanism is a nice feature, but hardly a core issue as no kawai uprights had them before about 1998.

That said, you should have any used piano that you are considering purchasing inspected by a technician.

To answer your question: A Kawai K3 is not a junk piano at all.

A Kawai K3 from 2006 is practically new :-) Except maybe if it was in a school, other institution or flood etc.

With 122cm it has a very good range. If I go acoustic, I'd aim for that size.

Kawai CN35. Daughter wanted a piano, so we got one. Now who'll learn faster? ;-)
