Gear 4 Music (in the UK) are advertising a Roland HP 506 for £1099. But over at Thomann, Germany (but with free international delivery in most cases) have it for £940! This is an amazing sale for an instrument that has only just been replaced by the new, fully modelled range.

But it has one of the most advanced sound engines available and was, until a couple of months ago, next to top of the range in Roland HP series.

Roland HP 302 / Samson Graphite 49 / Akai EWI

Reaper / Native Instruments K9 ult / ESQL MOR2 Symph Orchestra & Choirs / Lucato & Parravicini , trumpets & saxes / Garritan CFX lite / Production Voices C7 & Steinway D compact

Focusrite Saffire 24 / W7, i7 4770, 16GB / MXL V67g / Yamaha HS7s / HD598

Similar offer on the 508 as well, you can get Roland HP508 Digital Piano, Rosewood for 1400 or the polished ebony is still 2300. That's a lotta extra money for a bit o' a paint job. Strange they didn't reduce that one as well. May as well sand it and buy a couple of buckets of the stuff and do it yourself with the cheaper one laugh

Never tried a roland as yet in me life ... must one day for the fun of it.

Offers like that are common here in UK after old models go out it seems to me with some brands ( bar clavinovas it seems even the oldies still priced highly pretty much all the time ).

Casio AP 450 could be had for peanuts in a couple of places
too briefly for 600 GBP in stock clearance.

Kawai CA15 I was thinking about one time was available in a couple of places too for marginally more than VPC1 ( around a 1000 GBP). Well then, I thought may as well have that, have the sounds and a full cabinet while I am at it if I wanted one.

Unfortunately I didn't fall in love with it when I tried a CA17 recently, so that idea completely evaporated. Back to me beloved Casio it was with open arms. laugh

I'm in the market for a digital piano and so far the best deals I've found are b-stock hp-508 for £1250. I've also found a b-stock ca95 for £1650.

I think I will go for hp-508 new for 1400 for the extra piece of mind. The price for the 506 seems very good value. The question is whether to wait until after Christmas and try get an even better deal or just to buy now.

the point, however, is to change it

Correction the ca95 is 1700, but does come with free stool and headphones.

This could be quite wrong but I think it's very unlikely you'll get a better deal after Christmas. At least in the case of the Rolands, which are selling at about half of the original street price, they are being sold off until the shops have cleared them from stock.

It must be fate: gesr4music have dropped a further £60 from their new hp508s this morning to £1340.

I'm gonna bite!

This is making me slightly grumpy...I bought the HP506 from Gear4Music for £1199 a couple weeks ago. Should have waited a bit longer/bought from Thomann!

For anyone wondering, the piano arrived in brand new and great state without any damage one day later than scheduled - Gear4Music refunded my shipping costs immediately when I rang them up about it. I got the additional warranty with 90 days money back guarantee and I'm super glad I did because I haven't decided yet if I'll be keeping it. It's a lovely piano but my wrists have trouble with the action on it - have not found anyone else with the same problem though so it seems to be just me. I have also added a wireless stick now so I can mess about with the piano settings from my iphone - quite cool and it sounds even better now.

If anyone else goes for this, its definitely an amazing bargain and well worth it.

Edit: The HP506 in Rosewood has now dropped to £999! That's absolutely mental.

Well, going by Sabinnie's story and what has happened even over the last couple of days, it's possible prices will fall further before stocks run out. But I wouldn't count on it. The HP506 and 508 are already selling at bargain prices and there may not be many left in the warehouse. Who knows?

Sabinne you could always send it back under your 30 day money back guarantee and then buy it again. Give them a call they may offer you something in compensation if you are still within this period.

I'm not within the 30 days, I'm in the 90 days now. I just checked, and the black version is actually still at the 1199 price, only with free headphones and stool thrown in now.

I purchased the 506 mid/end October in contemporary black (CB) and their stock of that particular design was at 11. They now have only one left. The 506 rosewood model was at 25 units at that time and is now down to 18 - so they're not actually moving that many units and waiting for prices to drop further might be an option if you're willing to risk it.

Ah I just bought the hp508 for 1340 in Rosewood - didn't want to take the chance and wait. Would have preferred black (although the rosewood will probably go better with my room), but I'm willing to forego aesthetic elegance for the extra savings.

The rosewood looks really nice in the demo videos. It's probably the colour I'd go for. I think it's a fine choice.

Those are amazing prices for simply great instruments. Wish such discounts would've existed back when I was buying. But having the instrument for the period of time that has passed since definitely outweighs the price difference.
I didn't care that much for the rosewood either when seeing them on the internet, but having seen and played the 506 and 508 in a shop a couple of months back, I found I liked the look a lot more than I expected.
Anyway, for those that are on the market, it looks like it's a good time to get amazing value for their money. Happy holidays!
