Just wondering whether anyone has ever used Artistworks for online lessons?

I'm considering their Jazz Piano program, after receiving a Black Friday special offer for a one-year membership.

Does anyone have experience with them?

Thanks.

I signed up for a year when it came out like a month ago but haven't been able to spend much time on it yet.

Honestly, I'm not the quite sure about the method or material yet. Regardless the access to George is amazing for the money spent.

I'd look through the sample lessons and the course plan, it gives you a good idea of what the material covers. If you're not sure you should really get a month first just to see what it's like before you sign up for a year. You may lose $40 overall but it would be worth it to be safe. You can always get 20% off pretty much.

There's also this service that just launched. https://www.pianogroove.com/

That might be good if you want to have a very song oriented approach to learning. ArtistWorks is more of a fundamentals type approach- I don't think you're even meant to use the left hand for the whole first level of lessons - it's all about right hand soloing/runs with the bebop scale.

Thanks for that info, Andrew. While PianoGroove is more expensive than Artistworks, a quick look at some of the numerous sample videos looks like it's more in line with what I want to learn.

Basically, I want to learn how to play jazz and GAS standards from a lead sheet.

Thanks!

Whatever works. ArtistWorks real selling point is the 1 on 1 exchanges with professionals of a very high caliber which makes it quite unique I think. But yes, most of the material seems to be more band oriented, such as comping/improv/jamming rather than straight covering standards.

I have never really used or seen PianoGroove btw, so don't jump in on my account. I've just seen a couple of youtube vids and noticed they had a launch thing recently. There are jazz piano services out there a well, http://www.jazzpianoonline.com/ for one, but I have no experience with it.
