Congratulations - he's beautiful.
(Interestingly, only 3 photos showed up on my PC (windows 7), but 16 showed up on the Watched Topics email.)
EDIT - I came back to my computer 5 minutes later, and they'd all loaded - maybe slow internet today?

Nice.
One question though, is the piano blocking the entrance to the other room?

One question though, is the piano blocking the entrance to the other room? There's enough room so that I can walk through without it feeling like a squeeze, since the piano is angled so that it's over the step. I'm really pleased that I can access the keyboard from both sides with no problem as well! It actually doesn't feel much bigger than the Petrof, I think because the Petrof was shiny black and bulky, and drew attention to itself

Some of the stridency you're experiencing could be from having your ears in a corner of 3 smooth reflective surfaces. It would be a shame to needle the hammers to death trying to solve an acoustics problem.
Nice photos. Esthetically I'm not a fan of side logos for home pianos but not enough to keep me from buying a piano whose sound pleased me.
congrats. It's been a long and interesting journey for you and us. I'm glad you shared it here.

Thank you, all! Some of the stridency you're experiencing could be from having your ears in a corner of 3 smooth reflective surfaces. It would be a shame to needle the hammers to death trying to solve an acoustics problem. Oh, I hope not! There are a few good notes (like a C# and an F an octave down from the top), and also I think the worst notes are very warbly and out of tune, so I'll re-evaluate the voicing after my tech does the first tuning. Hopefully this weekend!

Just...wow. What a beautiful instrument. Can't want to hear some recordings of it once it is voiced and tuned.

My tech finally came today! He spent about 8 hours here, some of it spent chatting and having lunch, but he probably spent several hours just working on voicing with me. He said that overall, Bo was about 25 cents flat (which indicates to him that I'll probably need more tuning in a few months) but in excellent condition and only lightly played. He did some regulation which resulted in a much more sensitive touch and ability to play pianissimo-- said next time he'll do more regulation which will give me even better pp but didn't have time today. He got rid of all the harsh (what he calls "hot") notes and voiced the piano down a bit overall, with endless patience for my feedback. Also, some notes were already going out of tune during the day, so that's how fast things can change! I'm still getting used to the mellowed tone (was LOUD before!) but overall everything is better. Right now I think Bo would sound better once the voicing is played in a bit, but maybe I just need to get used to it. It sounds and plays like a different piano! He also asked me if I was going to change the name I normally don't name my stuff, but Bo came with the name (and a very sentimental previous owner), so the name is here to stay... although maybe it would be appropriate to spell it "Beau" I'm thinking about recording something but I can count my current performance-ready pieces on one hand, and the ones that I can play doing my own page-turns get me down to one or two... so let's see how things go!

Oh, twocats, you have ruined me. That sound is like nothing I have heard before, and I have been sampling regularly at Living Pianos sales web site. How can anything less than this ever be satisfying. Its a good thing I will not be ready for a grand piano for a long time to come.
PS. Your playing is wonderful
